Recently, sometimes when I start my car the RPMs dip to almost 500 and the engine sputters and shakes like a cammed V8. It sounds and feels cool but that's not good. Haha. It does this from 15 seconds to a couple of minutes, even when revving it up a bit it's rough. I just cleaned my air filter a few months ago so I don't think that's the problem..ideas?

 

Any codes pooping up? could be a vacuum leak, or a IAC (idle air control valve) starting to **** out as it tries to get the car to idle. All I got off the top of my head right now.

 

what about the MAF???

 

No codes are showing. I'll check the vacuum lines tomorrow, and should I clean the IAC?

 

Clean the MAF with some electicral contact cleaner, and clean the IAC with some carb cleaner. See if that helps.

 

hmm,, my car does this when i stop. and it started after i put my new alternator on. (Soundsystem killed the old alternator) when i press the brakes, come to a light or stop sign, most of the time it will idle down and stutter realllllyyy bad. then idle back up.. u can even hear my car idle down a little when i use turn signals at a stop light.. i think my car just has bad electrical problems.

 

Alright, would autozone have MAF cleaner?

 

They probably would. I don't know of anything certain cleaner or other place to find some electrical cleaner. I use some stuff called Big Bath II, its for circut boards, I doubt you will find any of that though.
