Blowers
i have a stock convertible 2004 3.9L v6 and was thinking about putting on a turbocharger. What do i have to have on my car for it to work. Also if i out on a blower and required things will it hurt my gas mileage? if so how much?
if i get one what do you guys recomend doing to my car. i want mostly low end torque, but dont want to gear my car
oh yeah...
how much horsepower will it add, how much will it take off my 0-60 time, and how much (est) will it cost for parts and installation
thanks

ok. . . if you want to turbocharge your car there is only 1 person that you can go to, and thats andy from www.TmaTurbo.com, he makes custom turbo kits for our v6's and he makes them very well. if you want you can get a setup that will create boost as low as a rootsblower (aka low end ), any makes kits that require nothing but a tune (no fuel upgrades) but atm it is limited to 4.4 psi of boost, but that still proves to make lots of HP, witha cam, and self ported intake he had a guy make 275whp/285wtq with 4.4psi of boost

i went to the site and got so confused with all the psi and stuff like that.
i know what psi stands for but dont know anything about blowers except they stuff the engine with air. Where are these guys located? and do you think they or someone could install it for me?

well this is not a blower its a turbo.
Turbo-runs off engine exhaust to spin up and make boost which pulls in more air for extra power.
Blowers-there is 2 main kinds, they all run off the engines belt.
Centrifugal-builds boost as rpms raise kinda like a turbo. monts on front of engine easiest of all to install.
Roots/Screw type-these also run off belt and are a replacement for your manifold. these build boost almost as fast as the gas is to the floor. for loads of tire melting tourqe.
these are the basics of turbos and blowers. what he is talking about is a turbo.

The pro charger with 11psi pulley claims that it can raise your HP gain from 40-80% over stock.
It never hurts after you get a PA installed to get a dynotune to prevent lean conditions or detonation, and in a turbo pinging. Turbos can add anywhere from 1 psi to hell....30 psi if your lower end can handle it. If you run too much boost....well....we will get into that later.

Dyno costs any where from 100 to 150 an hour (at least in kansas)
Procharger can be found at almost any performance parts warehouse
www.jegs.comwww.summitracing.com
www.procharger.com
so on and so forth.
Teal, are you running through an intercooler? what stage of SC do you have.
If you havent allready you should look at getting your fuel mapped or get a mega squirt ecu

i took a look at the prochargers how much do those cost installed?
what would i have to do to put one of those on my stock 04. with all the required parts and one of those on how much horsepower will i have and how good will my gas mileage be.
btw will this make a noticeable diference in my cars 0-60
