i was just wondering if anyone knows if 5 speed stangs(mines an 04) whine while you go up the rpm's and get progressivly louder, and my shifter vibrates/rumbles while the car is on. if anyone knows if this is a problem just let me know. (it was bought this way).

** just a sidenote i dont have any aftermarket parts in the engine yet it is all stock as far as i know.

 

My 5 speed does it too (05 V6), especially at 5th gear around 50mph, I think there's a tsb on it, not sure thou.

I'm going to have FRPP 3.73 Gears + T-lok installed in the next month or so, and I'll have them check the drive shaft also. Hopefully that'll solve the problem.

For my car the whine only occurs at 5th gear and around 50mpg, also very quietly at 3rd gear under WOT. If anyone have any past experience with this issue I'm also very interested in knowing how it was resolved.

 

my car does the sammee 2000 v6 .And my car kinda rattles and make some weird noice when its in neutrel ,or wen in 1st and 2nd and the rpm is under 1500.I think its just my cars old but if you guys think you know what it is let me knw

 

Question what does WOT mean

 

my shifter is constantly vibrating once the car is on and honestly the whistle happens mostly in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears but its reassuring that some of this is happening on other peoples too.

 

i dont know all that much about engines yet(working on it lol) but i was just thinking if it might be something wrong with the clutch or something like that so ya if anyone knows anything about this please post

 

Without hearing it, it's really hard to certain. Could be basic gear whine or a shifter bearing...it's all guessing without hearing it. Are you able to sort of pinpoint it? Like are you able to tell if it's coming from the front/rear or whatever?

 

ill try i was assuming it had to do something with the clutch or just a normal thing but it seems like its coming from the front but ill start paying more attention to it but its a pretty loud whine and what really worried me was the shaking/vibrating the shifter because ive owned other 5 spds and none of them have done that.

ya after driving it today i can definitely say its coming from the front and does anyones shifter vibrate all the time i just found that very wierd because no other 5 spd i owned did that

 

depends on how violent the vibrations are, mine vibrates a little, but never anything i thought to be serious, and i get a whine in reverse...lol

 

yo my cars been doin some weird crap lately..probobly just because its old. but like sometimes ill put in 2nd gear and like it wont accept it , like il be in first dan put it into second as normal release the clucht and itl be like am in neutral the engine will rev but the car wont move i have to press the clucht again move the shifter up and back down into 2nd. and sometimes it cant put it in reverse like it just wont go in i gotta play around with it for like 5 minutes than it goes in . do you guys think i need a new tranny

 

i have an 02 automatic sixxer. AND if i turn my overdrive off and it stays in 3rd or 4th whatever gear that is, sometimes it vibrates and shakes. its really odd too, it doesnt slip, never has, its done it since ive had it, and thats nearly 2 years. i need to change trans fluid i gues. but when i let it go into OD it doesnt shake

 

about not going in reverse sometimes i think that that is normal. my 5 spd v6 is a 2001 with 59k miles, i dont have any of the issues about whinning listed above but sometimes it doesnt seem to want to go into reverse. although if your in neutral and let the car roll an inch or two it slides right in. if youre not able to roll in neutral i usually just give it a little bit of gas in 1st and then slide it in reverse with no problems. this doesnt happen often to me but it does every time to time. but being in other peoples manual cars they seem to do the same thing so i dont think its anything abnormal.

 

mine does the same thing its not too loud to be reallt noticable but you can hear it slightly

 

i dunno, my v6 has a deep engine sound. i get people asking me if its a v8 all the time. even people who know about cars. sounds nice all the way up to 5k rpms. i have no performance mods at all. Ill try to get a video of it from 0-100 its decently quick unlike the youtube videos that ive seen of other v6 mustangs where they seem to slow up around 80mph

 

pretty sure your throw out bearing is going out...my car did the exact same thing and it was it...hope this helps

 

I have a 98 97,000 miles and my shifter vibrates/rumbles and whine in gears 1,2,3,and 5 but that just the throwout bearing needs to be replaced

 

yeah i think its pretty much the transmissions that ford uses, mine does it also. It has a whine while going through the gears. My friend thinks that it sounds like the alternator is gonna go out but idk.
