Mach 1 Grille Delete problem

I love the look of it but Ive got one problem with it... I dont like the look of being able to see the radiator so well right behind it. Whats the best solution?

PColav6 09-28-2008 10:45 AM

Spraypaint the radiator black? lol

XeroTrinity 09-28-2008 10:49 AM

That wont screw up anything? Just regular spraypaint?

PColav6 09-28-2008 10:58 AM

I have no idea TBH..haha

doobie 09-28-2008 11:15 AM

im pretty sure you can paint it. you'l probably want paint with a higher temperature tolerance.

Must See 09-28-2008 11:19 AM

I would never paint my radiator. especially black.... Black attracts heat and the Radiator is supposed to cool your engine. But thats just me....

GForceJunkie 09-28-2008 01:10 PM

Don't worry, you can't see it from the drivers seat.:)

Lol, i appreciate that but why would I even bother changing my grille if i was worried about whether or not i could see it from the drivers seat? =P

Dave04Mustang 09-28-2008 01:31 PM

I would rather look at a radiator than ugly plastic honeycomb :D

01FR500 09-28-2008 02:57 PM

Just think about all that nice cool air hitting rushing past it.

King 09-28-2008 03:43 PM

Do you have a pic of what it looks like?

jseven 09-28-2008 03:46 PM

well its not like people are going to sit right at the pony's level and look into your engine...its ok, just try to forget about it

Stephen4036 09-28-2008 04:20 PM

dude u cant see shit when ppl look in their rearview mirror going 45... they arent looking at little silver rivets lol... stop being paranoid and be happy ur getting good flow to it...

+1

PColav6 09-28-2008 04:37 PM

Uhh, how fast you are going should not have an affect on how clear the image is of the car in your rear view mirror...lol

King 09-28-2008 04:40 PM

If it's Stephen, he probably put his car under a truck and is seeing double because he's been drinking too much.

Stephen4036 09-28-2008 06:22 PM

lol.... u know what i mean, your not paying attention to the radiator when ur driving.

Ehhh nah. Not only have I looked at it and noticed it really well but just about everyone else who i have asked their opinions about the new grill and chin spoiler i put on have said, "well it looks great except the radiator". It pretty much sticks out unless its night time

Stephen4036 09-28-2008 07:27 PM

no one says that.... and u cant see ur radiator.. i say just shut up and drive.

Dave04Mustang 09-28-2008 07:28 PM

do you have an aftermarket radiator? From how you describe it yours is much different from everyone else. Hardly notice mine.. :dunno:

As you can see, its an eyesore..

Stephen4036 09-28-2008 10:57 PM

i think it looks fine but w/e just fill it in with concrete for all i care.

King 09-28-2008 11:01 PM

Stephen needs to fill his mouth with concrete for all I care, JMO.

The car really doesn't look bad.

Stephen4036 09-28-2008 11:17 PM

kings on fire today lol.

XeroTrinity 09-29-2008 12:10 AM

I suppose its just me... That doesnt change anything though xD
Can anyone recommend some radiator paint?

kobudo 09-29-2008 12:28 AM

If you look *right into* the grille opening you will be able to see the radiator on every car you will ever look at. That includes yours when you had the honeycomb grille with the corralled pony.

Don't paint your radiator, you will regret it. not only does black heatsoak, but paint will decrease the surface area/mass ratio, which is how the radiator cools your fluid.

If you really want to drive yourself nuts, concentrate on how much radiator is peeking out through your bumper between the barred-up fog light openings.

Haha yes, Im very aware of that already and I plan on getting fog lights just to cover at least some of that up. Imma freeak.
I know I was able to see my radiator with the honeycomb grille, but then it wasnt so evident.. Now, it just sticks out because of the big opening. As Dave04mustang says, he hardly notices his and i dont think I should be able to notice mine as much

kobudo 09-29-2008 12:40 AM

Eh, it's a piece of metal. You'll notice it more or less depending on lighting conditions due to the reflectivity. I don't really notice mine anymore unless I'm trying to. Notice also that your pic is much more "head-on" than Dave's is. Also, it will be more noticeable on darker cars.

Randy Stinchcomb 09-29-2008 04:45 AM

1st off, it's not the radiator your seaing, it's the A/C condensor and for many-many years they came painted black from the factory, it's not done anymore to save money and a few oz's of weight ;)

so go right ahead and paint it black, no problems in doing-so.....
