Post Need Some Help Please-

kk, well i got a Automatic 2001 3.8 V6 mustang a few months ago and i want to buy performance parts and some body parts. i have $3-4,000 to go towards it. i was thinking-

-C.A.I(BBK) or a shaker system(but i read their crap cause their is only so much air able to flow into the system unless its forced introduction)
-throttle body
-Dual Exhaust(already have one picked out from a local shop)
-Gears
-UD Pulley-7.37
-Tuner(was thinking the SCT LiveWire)
- maybe some MAC Long Headers?

-bodyparts:
(already had a GT Hoodscoop put on it)
-GT Rear Bumper
-Cobra Front Bumper
-New Headlights/tailights

Opinions?

if you have 3 or 4 grand to spend...you should be getting a turbo set up instead of all those bolt on's that wont do much at all.

Look are you wanting huge horsepower numbers or what?

I'd say screw a Air Intake, they do nothing.

Buy your visual stuff, cool.

Exhaust, awesome, local shop, perfect.

Headers - unless you know your state doesn't have smog laws, I'd check on those long tube headers.

As far as I know, they won't add a whole lot of power anyways.

UD Pulley
Gears automatic, you want 4:10s
Tuner: You can go with a livewire, just has more extras to it, I'd be content with a Xcal 2-3

And then you can get your big bang..

Turbo system..look at about 4 grand, not counting the installation price.
Supercharger..going to be close to the same price..and the instal.. it'll cost some money for both.

Not to mention you're going to want/need a dynotune to correct the A/F Ratio and some other issues you may run in to.

Now.. for about a thousand dollars, or less, you can run a SAFE nitrous system, installation cost wouldn't be too bad, or if you're mechanically inclined you can do it yourself.

But, it all varies as to what you want, and in some cases, what you want isn't exactly what you can do, if it isn't legal... keep these things in mind.

ok thank you guys, well i have a few comments and Q's. ok for now im just looking for visual stuff and a bit of performance stuff...all i'm wanting to do is add some HP so i can accelerate faster(the V6 is stock), so would the basic stuff help me on that for now? i'll SC it later down the road. so for now how about the Dual exhaust, the Gears, Long headers, a tuner, UD Pulley, and air intake.would i need a throttle body & spacer?

also, is their any other basic stuff i can buy to help with it?

it will help you go a little bit faster but not really. U have the money do the S/c now its the only thing worth it. Everything else can be done later. just do it you may never have the money to SC it again

if you want to accelerate faster you might want to get gears.

With a V6 no bolt ons like an air intake, pulley's, exhaust are going to amount to anything. If you want some HP you have to go with a power adder. Gears will make you accelerate faster but it has no impact on horsepower.

Most of the superchargers for V6 cost in the 3500 to 4500 dollar range. I got a Vortech SC on my V6 last year for about $4000. I brought my from CJ pony parts since I work about 5 miles down the road. I don't need to pay shipping. But Vortech and Prochargers all have them in those ranges.

Have fun with either them

This is the kind of comments we dont allow in the v6 section. Im sure if he wanted to he could do that. But he didnt ask that, he asked about modding his v6. Keep that crap out of the v6 section.

Im not, i don't even own a v6. Its the rules we have on these boards; we don't allow v6 bashing in their own section. Especially when they are just trying to get help. Cant help or have something to say here, then dont.

Now keep on topic please.
