#1 and 4 would be a good start. #5 you don't need yet but if you want to just burn cash and have it for the future I guess. But #2 is useless and #3 you don't need so why buy it.

Cheddarbob 05-04-2007 04:34 PM

yeah get 1
2 like cuban said worthless same with 3
4 ahhh IMO i hate the way they sound but its your car so w/e
5. you can do later

Vision.Pro 05-04-2007 06:12 PM

I would go with a Flowmaster or MAC exhaust if i were you.

or could try the new Cherry BOMB

Redrum 05-05-2007 07:15 AM

ok i'm geting the following:

1.BBK Cold Air Intake

for the dual exhaust dont i need to buy Mustang Dual Exhaust Adapter Kit if i want to change it ?

mustangvsix 05-05-2007 10:01 AM

Yep, do number 1,3,4,5. I am 99% sure you need the adapter kit to run a GT style catback. Also i say do number 5 especially if you are an automatic, but you don't really need the livewire version, just the SCT xcal 2 will do fine, you will pick up a few ponies and will firm up your shifts some.

also for the exhaust go to youtube and listen to some video clips to decide which setup you like best. I haven't ever heard the pypes system.

PColav6 05-05-2007 10:21 AM

I'd just get the Mac Y-pipe catback..cheaper and easier to install than running a GT catback

but that's me

A throttle body is pointless.
First of all your intake isn't big enough to take advantage of a bigger TB. And the stock TB is good enough to flow enough air until you are pushing major boost.

YOU DO NOT NEED THE ADAPTER KIT!!!! Any exhaust shop can just cut the y-pipe and either make you a mid or just run straight pipes.

And do not get the y-pipe dual. The point of a dual exhaust is to eliminate the bottle neck created by a y pipe.Completely defeats the performance purpose of a dual exhaust set-up.

a throttle body was #2 on his list, i never said to get it. And if he plans to put this system on himself i highly doubt he can just weld on some pipes(as in having the skill or tools too). yes that is much more practical then wasting $100 on an adapter, but at least with the adapter he can put it on himself. And as for the whole y-pipe non y-pipe thing. it's a v6 mustang. 95% of the modded ones won't see anything faster then a 14.9 on a great day. so i honestly don't think worrying about how free flowing your exhaust is, is that big of a deal. but whatever:breakdancesmilie:

Whoops my bad. I could have swarn you included #2 my bad.

And I guess if you want to add another y pipe you can. Just seems pointless to me honestly... Then again I have a sixer on juice and a bunch of other stuff so, different goals I guess.

true, you are one of the few who actually have high goals for their sixer, so running a y-pipe would hurt you. But for someone like myself who doesn't plan to do anything else with my car peformance wise, maybe some suspension since i am into autox then a y-pipe is fine.

stangracer44t 05-06-2007 02:19 PM

if your in it for the long haul get some headers, a mid pipe, and a full catback, not a Y pipe, but if you just want a good solution for right now get the mac catback kit. It will bolt right up to your existing y pipe.

boysniteout07 05-06-2007 04:14 PM

if your gonna get the pypes catback kit dont get the violator mufflers they sound like shit on our cars trust me i have them... b4 u put the kit on ur car if u get it send the violator mufflers back to pypes and get the street pro ones they are the ones that are made for our cars the violators are for the gts they just sound really ricey at high RPMs so if i were u i would just get the MAC kit or change the mufflers plus the pypes kit is a pain to put on u have to cut it to get it to fit right so just a bit of insight haha

1982 mustang 5.0 05-06-2007 04:25 PM

and why is that

Because the stock exhaust manifolds flow good enough for a power level around 300rwhp. And even then unless you get long tubes it's still useless and long tubes while they do help some it's almost not worth it.

To me, no. To others maybe. The difference in sound is subjective. Personally the price does not out weigh the gain on our cars...

Cheddarbob 05-07-2007 03:15 PM

well 4 me if it made my car louder than its all good.

I never understood why people bitch about Carb and california emmisions? God forbid people want clean air to breathe... Look what happened in tokyo a couple years back, they had to level an entire mountain to get the foul air out of the city...I love CARB.

I dont think in japan they have mufflers or smog control.
IMO its LA to blame(not saying that b/c ur from la) SD has crystal clean air.
I am glad they now have high flow cats for cali.

Well first off I'm not from LA. I'm from Downey and go to school in Northridge. Second of all LA is hardly the dirtiest air in California, being that the central valley ahs some of the wort air on earth even today. And as crystal clean as you might think SD air is trust me it isn't and if it is that much cleaner I seriously doubt it's a huge difference and most of that can be attributed to new smog regulations, industrial regulations and the like all of which CARB oversees. They don't just deal with car stuff.

If your driving an automatic, go with 4.10 gears. A cheap way to get more power, quicker acceleration, and its a gas saver, haha.

Gears do not add power...

SnTBakosFinest 05-08-2007 09:10 PM

Central Valley (bakersfield, where i'm from) has the worst air.. its because the smog from all the other cities gets pushed down into here and just lingers...

jdansby1 05-08-2007 09:23 PM

True, I wasnt paying attention to what I was saying, haha, No power added, just quicker accel.
