Default Exhaust Leak

So..I have a dual exhaust... nothing connecting them two individual exhausts from each header..

One of the welds broke right around where the catalytic converter is...

Heres the thing..I have a MIG welder with a bottle..would i be able to just weld the leak shut or what?

welp i welded the first break i saw...it sounds alot better then it did...but i think i can still hear a leak or it could just be me...luckily i don't hear it by the headers..so i'm thinking whoever did the welding before did i really shitty job. I might just unbolt it all and re-weld everything.

you could do that but it may be alot of work. But if you think u still hear a leak you should start your car listen and try and find it fast b/c what happend to me I had a leak in the header and they couldnt find it b/c it would warm up and wxpand and close the hole but when it was could it would open up again. so try that if not its not a big deal to just re do the job your self.

Don't feel bad kid.. I had a header gasket go on me and instead of dropping in a new set of headers for about $400... they welded it instead for $700. Don't ask me, it was my parents awesome doing. But it's all coming off anyway... longtubes baby!

worst case take a broom-pole and hold it up to your ear and put place it against all parts of the engine if you really want to home in on the sound.

well, unbolting the exhaust won't take me long ... and re welding the welds wouldn't be too hard.. ( i have a mig with a bottle, and i'm certified...i'm a decent welder )

I think there could be another leak down by the muffler itself.. because when its cold and i rev up to about 2k rpms and let it go back down i can hear what sounds like a leak..

I might just say screw it and invest in a completely new exhaust (I recieved the flowmasters for $50)

I might just end up patching the exhaust and reinforcing the welds for the time being.. and then selling them for like 60-70 dollars (flowmaster 40 mufflers and aftermarket cats) buying headers and a complete H pipe or X

My boss jacked my car up yesturday at his house to check the headers and see if there was a leak..he didn't see an holes and when i turned her on he could hear anything up there..

Saturday it'll be up on stands anyways because I'm putting springs on it..my buddies 40th anni rims and drag radials on the back..so i'll have time to unbolt the exhaust and reinforce it all while they are doing the other work..
