Default 18x10 fitment in rear??

So I went to Tirediscounters yesterday to get some prices on tires. One tire I was looking at was the KDW2. The guy I was talking mentioned that they just came out with a 315/35/18 tire, before the largest was 295/35/18. He said there would be no problem with the fitting of the 315 on an 18x10 rim. I always thought 305 was pushing the 18x10.
Also he said no matter if I got the 295 or 315 I would have to roll my lip AND dent my taillpipes for them to fit. He said this was because I have 2 1/2inch pipes instead of stock 2 1/4 inch pipes.
I've thought I might have to roll my lip, has anyone else done this and what the heck does it all involve?
Also, has anyone dented theyre taillpipes for proper fitting of the wider rear tires.
My car is lowered approximately 1 1/2.

wtf??? why in the world would u need to dent the tailpipes???? even aftermarket GT's exhaust goes over the axle, not around the tires

Yes, they go over the axles, but they kinda angle outwards once over. They're prolly close to only an inch to the edge of the tire and wheel, and thats stock 245/45/17. Even With the backspacing of the larger wheels, it's very close.

With my 285's I still have plenty of room.I'm going to go 315/30/18's once these wear out.

What tires you getting? Anyone have experience with Toyo T1-R's? They look like great tires and relatively well priced.
