Tire question for my 00'

I just bought some 18' bullitt rims from a friend that had them on his 98 and i am buying new tires for them. The tire that he had on it was a 245/40/18 but he took them off. Is this the size i need? Will they rub?
Thanks

Lazerred6 08-25-2009 03:19 PM

they won't rub you will be fine

stangkid1993 08-25-2009 06:01 PM

ok thanks

stanger00 08-25-2009 10:23 PM

if they are 9 inches wide i would run a 265/40 tire or a 275/40 tire.

stangkid1993 08-26-2009 04:21 AM

why do you say that? just wondering

If you just stick any tire that will fit on there it can mess up ur speedo.

spike_africa 08-26-2009 06:24 AM

What size are the rims?

stangkid1993 08-26-2009 02:45 PM

there all 18 by 10

Lazerred6 08-26-2009 02:46 PM

10s will not fit up front

stangkid1993 08-26-2009 02:53 PM

but they fit on his 98? and didnt rub

Lazerred6 08-26-2009 02:57 PM

Then they are probably 9s because I don't think you can put 245s on a 10 inch rim

the rim would be wider than the rubber

10 inches = 254 mm they can't be 10s

stangkid1993 08-26-2009 03:16 PM

o well your probally right, im new to rims/tires, and i measured with a tape measure and probally measured wrong

stanger00 08-26-2009 03:55 PM

245/40/18 is too small of a tire to run on that rim...your speedo will be off and the tires will have a stretched look. if you like the stretched rubber band tire look than go for it but dont expect it to peform well and get ready to feel every single pebble on the road.

i suggest at a minimum 265/40/18 but a 275/40/18 is my preference.

stangkid1993 08-26-2009 04:27 PM

so 275/40/18 will fit? and not rub on my 2000? so sry im just new to this

stanger00 08-26-2009 04:35 PM

they will fit and will not rub... the front may rub if you make a u-turn but thats a if. the rubbing will not be to the point where it will damage your tire.

I think he miss typed that as it should be a 275/35/18 or else it will be to tall. If it was me I would go either 255-265 up front with as big a tire as you can fit out back. Such as a 305/35/18 on the back. But you might want to make sure what the actual rim width's are, before you order any tires for them.

stanger00 08-27-2009 07:15 AM

yeah...i guess i was off. when i ran 18" rims i had 285/35 nitto 555 on my car. they rubbed up front on the inner fender wells.
