Default Race tires and 95 Cobras.

So my autocross "Coach" is stepping up to 315 Kumho V710 tires at all four corners. That means he has to get wider rims and new tires for next season along with spacers, steering rack limiters and all that to make it work. He told me that he would like to give me his old V710s (275/40/17) and 95 cobra R rims. Can you imagine my excitement. So the tires are used and kinda old as far as race tires go, but still sticky as **** and the rims are silver. I told him I would pay him something for them but he said I could just change his oil or something, what a great deal for me. My plans for the winter is to install the Evolution Motorsports Watts link, MM adj, LCAs, Alum rack bushings and X-2 balljoints. Along with the steering cooler I have sitting in my room, everything else I need to buy.

Should I paint the rims black? Gloss or Satin/Flat? Should I leave them alone since thier just race rims?

I personally would leave them alone so that if anything bad happened, I wouldn't feel like I wasted my time painting the rims. However, gloss black would look sweet on your car. Even if it's just for autox

I think you two are probably right. As much as I want to look badass at the AutoX, it doesn't really matter. You should have seen the amazing '08 GT500 Gray w/ black stripes, black racing rims on Nitto NT-01s that was at the event last weekend. I have some pictures of it that I should try to post. I think I will leave them alone becuase of the extra work it will be plus I don't want to worry about the paint flaking off. If I spend all the time on the rims then I will probably worry too much about messing them up than on my driving.
