better bite

i just got new sumi's friday. and i wanted to see how they gripped.. well the 245/45/17 spin from just a dead go with my auto... any way to get more bit 0on the street?? and i don't have an air guage, until tomorrow to see what they are at on PSI, where should they be for best bite/handling..

its not that i just hit the peddle all the time, but when i do i don't like ppl to stare when they hear the SCREECH!!!

97 drop top auto with only K&N filter and o/r x with macs dumped

sumitomos are cheap tires...I use them cause of that. but they dont grip well, there is nothing you can go about it except buy grippier tires.

SxyXc 02-13-2008 08:53 PM

okay, well the price was not bad. $420 to have them shipped, mounted balanced, hazard warranty, and free life time balance and rotation... so i am happy... only about $50 more than buying them off tirerack and getting mounted and balanced at school

tire psi should be at reckamended psi if you are at the strip and wont beter bite there drop is 10 psi but i wouldnt drive around town like that.

Hell man i dunno, I got Sumi HRZ's and in the summer time with 80+ temp when the streets are nice and hot they grip like nobodys business, i cant get em to chirp at all.

in the fall winder and early spring they just break loose like no tomorrow, however they just kinda of make a raspy noise as they spin, no real "screeetch"

THen again, yer in texas. how hot is is out there? they really do thier best with 80+

Jack, when I was in Atlanta, during those summers..90-100 degrees...both sets of my Sumis didnt grip for shit. moderate 2nd gear shift produced chirpage. I really think im gonna buck up for some 'spensive grippy tires.

sumi tires suck teh dick

SxyXc 02-13-2008 09:22 PM

recently its been mid 60's to high 70's nice enough to drop the top!! except for the wind!!.. but its a weird sound its more of a really low deep chirp.. but better than my last pair of tires, i would spin those on 3/4 throttle, and my exhaust was louder then they were so i went through em really fast, because i didn't know when they were spinning until i drop top down no wind no radio, wall on both sides, i heard a little chirp

officer4c13 02-13-2008 09:29 PM

i used to have a realy cheap set of realy hard tires and they would let out a hellashis cherp even turning on any surfice my softer goodyears hardly made a sound

Lol are you serious?

lol... i know i have an auto but i also have 4:10s and i cant get em to break.

well... then again, i am at 5,600ft altitude that might have something to do with it cause we suffer on the power...

PColav6 02-14-2008 01:59 PM

I can break traction with my 1 tire when making a right turn from a stop...that's about it I think, lol

officer4c13 02-14-2008 02:26 PM

i just put air in my tires today i know they where low but i did know how low. they take 44psi and almost all of them only had like 15psi man that made a big dif.

yeah im totally serious. I'd be willing to bet my car puts out a tad more than yours does, not counting the tranny differences. plus I have a KC clutch (bites harder)...and metal bushing RLCA's...I think those help the transfer of power. I dunno...yeah your alt. eats your HP for sure though.
