Question Tire size for 17x10.5 FR500 wheels?

Can I put a 275-40ZR17 tire on a 17x10.5 FR500 wheel? I want to put the Sumitomo HTR Z II tire that they offer in 275-40 17 but they do not offer the size that is recommened for the 17x10.5 wheel(315/35-17) how much difference is there between the 275-40 and the 315-35? Jeffroandy

huge difference...for a 17x10.5 width rim...a 315/35/17 is the PERFECT size. Thats what I use and I wouldn't use anything else.

a 275 on a 10.5 rim looks like poo poo...it will fit, but you will regret it.

just get the HTR-Z's basically they are a copy of the Dulnop SP Sport 8080E...a very high performance tire that comes stock from the factory on cars like the BMW E39 M5...a 400hp beast.

Default Thanks Guys!

O.K. you really helped me out, I was going to make a big mistake! I am going to go for the 315's I already have been getting prices of line. I checked with A.M. and they are out of stock on the front size, I need 275-40/17, but they do have the 315's. I am going to call them in the morning to check when they are going to be in stock. Thanks again guys you really helped me out. JEFFROANDY

that's where I bought my 275/40/17's for my front 17x9's, and my 315/35/17's for my 17x10.5's.

overall i spent

$847.00 for all 4 tires between tirerack, and discounttiredirect. Discount gave me free shipping on my tires as well. tirerack I had to pay shipping, but it wasn't that much.
