Default driveability for nitto DR

i would like to know some of yalls opinion on the nitto DR's. ive been driving the 555's for a couple years now and i am quite pleased. but since i am buying a new set of rims and i will need to get a 315,that makes the choice of tires limited. im stuck between goodyear or nitto drag radials. there is also 100 dollar price difference and driveability issues. ive only lived in the east coast for a year and the winters suck and the summers get the occasional down pours and i want to a tire that can handle the rain mostly since i dont drive in snow or ice. thats what the CRX is for. let me know some of your opinions. thanks

I live up here in Bear Delaware. I drove mine all week and loved them till the snow came down today. They drove home better than my almost Bald Futura's that came on the car.

I drove them in the rain a week ago and they seemed like regular tires. Mine are new though. I've had BFgoodrich DR's in the past and they were terrible in the rain. Im guessing mine will be fine until the grooves are gone. But spring and summers coming!!!!

it says they should last about 15k miles. How long do they seem to last for you all.

315+DR's+rain=OMG any way you look at it if you ask me. There is always the Sumi's that come in 315's. Probably much better in the rain, but then again, they are not DR's.

I drove the car today, we got about 3" of snow yesterday. The roads werwet and i had no problem with my DR's. It handled just the same on wet spots. Getting out of my drive way was the same, Hard to get a mustang moving in the snow no matter what tires you have.

As i said, mine are new with full grooves, They are handling better than the 1/8 left of futura tread i had on there when i bought the car. And they are 10 times better in the wet than BF goodrich DR's i've had in the past.

these nitto's are just real sticky street Tires. do not worry. when these wear out, im buying again without hesitation.

Come up on a rainy day and i'll let you drive it. or when im down near you. I fix the computer that runs the Music and lighting for the local tittie bar "the classic" in dover. hit me with a PM with your number and i'll let you test drive in the rain.

dude, last night we did our usual thing on lookerman but it was my roomies last weekend so we had to do something special with her. she wanted a lap dance so we took off to the place classics. 60 bucks later and she was grinnin ear to ear for the whole night they even let me take pics. classics was way better then this place called "cafe risque" you ppl in north carolina know what im talking about "ugh, worst 20 minutes and 10 dollars of my life"

DR's were never intended for street use by those that designed them.

They are inteded to be tires designed for Drag Racing, but legal to drive back and forth between the track....that's it. The idea was, for the drag racer on a budget and with no trailer, to give him a nice tire option for racing that he/she could swap at home in his/her own driveway.

It really kills me to know that some folks drive on these things.

yeah thats a good reminder. me and my roomates had a long discussion about what the dr's are for. so i splurged and i got some nitto dr 275 40's going on my five stars and i also bought the goodyear's for my new black bullitts. anyone want some steedas good price once i polish them up they will be on ebay with most likely a local pick up only. dont have a truck to take to the ups store

i pretty much have the bullitt suspension minus the front sway bar cobra sway bars dont pop up enough on ebay. at low speeds bumps kinda suck but whatever. didnt hinder my drag times at all.

Wow thats almost 100% wrong. drag radials are made so you have a street tire that doesnt have to be taken on and off for the track and will be fine in the rain etc..

I have nitto drag radials they are a great tire. i drive in the rain all the time. THEY ARE BY FAR MUCH BETTER than the stock goodyears i have up front in the rain. and i have about 7k miles on mine now and they still have alot of tread left on them. and i Drag race about 1-2 times a month at my local track. I drive to and from school etc.. with these and they are great they even handle pretty damn good to.

Let me re-phrase, I should never have stated that "they were never intended for street use", but they were never intended for use for primarily on the street. This is a tire designed for the track, but still DOT legal to drive on the street. The tire engineers never intended for guys to drive around on these things all the time.

the side walls have way too much play in them makes them a little unstable at constant highway speeds. my roomate complained about lane changes he feels a little flex in the tires. i do gamblers runs every week so i guess i need my d/rs to last a lil longer.

I know these arent for daily or high speed and i worried at first. I've had micky's and BFG's. I've got another vehichle i drive daily 2002 f150 4x4 for rain and snow. I've been thinking about a 2nd set of rims with some regular nitto555's. Mostly just to save on wear. These DR's are surprising as i said. I went in thinking of BFG's and terrible in the rain, but no problems with them. Im sure when the grooves are down to nothing they will suck. But i plan on enjoying till next fall out of them.

I actually believe i'll get more miles out of these than if i put any other street tire on there since im not spinning away anymore. But i do not do any 120+ MPH high speed runs late night on the highway.

The MT's or BFG's there's no way i could ride around on them daily. Rain is a joke on those. but as MT's #1 said, and i fee, the manufacturer says they are not everyday tires to cover their own behind. And they arent for everyone. But i'd recommend them to anyone on here for straight line.
