Default Now Its Down To Tires

Alright dudes, now its down to tires. Props to Lance and Dannyb for the information on what tire to use on the 18x9. I have to order my four tires tomorrow, but I just don't know which ones.

I have to do a LOT of long-distance traveling this coming year so I want something that has a decent sound and comfort (I know it'll be tough with the 18's and lowering springs but.. you know) and also has decent wet traction and tread wear.

I was thinking a 275/35/18 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports, since I have a limited budget of about $700, MAAAYBE $850 if I pushed it.. but no more than $850.

For what I'm looking for, are the g-Forces good?

They give reviews and customer ratings of tires.

I know I've been to tirerack.com, and I'm not looking for customer ratings who drive BMWs, I'm asking the Mustang crowd for their opinion my main man. I was thinking of the g-Force Sport based on the information tirerack gave.

pirelli, bf goodrich, nitto, high end goodyear are all tires. If I were you (and im not shooting your car down) but you arent going to need high traction rated tires and its just going to be a waste of money. Get yourself some nice tires with low treadwear because you travel.

read tirerack anyways because itll tell you generally on how that tire is. If its noisey on a dodge viper, a bmw X series, a ford pinto, and a chevy aveo, its going to be noisey on your mustang too.

Yeah obviously, if I had a GT or something more sporty I'd obviously go for the more expensive higher traction tire, which is why I shot down the BF Goodrich T/A KDW's, and I thought the g-Force Sports... they've got that decent comfort rating and treadwear.

I run T/A KDW2s all the way around, the traction is great dry and i dont have to worry about sliding off the road when it gets a little wet

My suggestions for ur budget:

Kumho Ecsta SPT or Supra 712: 163 and 158
Sumitomo HTR ZII: 161
BFG G-sport: 159

all tires are 275/35/18. After you multiple the privce by 4 for all 4 tires, add another 100 for shipping/mounting/balancing

I have the 275-35/18 hankook ventus tires from discount tire direct.com and i love them. I drive a lot back and forth to college and the tread wear is very good.

I'm leaning towards mounting the BFG G-force sports to my chrome Saleens that I bought from here. I'm going with 265s though. They are on backorder at tirerack so I may go with the Sumitumos.

When reading tire reviews, be careful to note the tire size that they are reviewing. Different tire sizes can cause a tire to behave completely differently even if the tire name is the same.

A 205/50/16 is gonna feel a lot different then a 295/35/18. The later will have a much stiffer sidewall.

i have G-forces and they come with a ton of tread and have big gutters for wet weather traction. if i had got 265's it would of been a way better fit on my 17'9s.

I went ahead and bought the BF G-Force Sports, 275/35/18's... hopefully they'll settle real nice on the 18x9's, I'm pretty optimistic about em' though
