Default Ford Racing C springs

Ok theres the thing. I just got my springs from americanmuscle and my friend is helping me install them early this week. Ive looked over a few posts that people have been saying about wearing out the stock shocks/struts ad if I remember right wearing the tires faster. This has made me majorly second guess the whole spring idea. Basically I want to know if its worth just putting the c springs on with nothing else. If thats the case ill just return them and order SLPs that Ive been drooling over because my Macs aren't cutting it anymore . Also about how long does it take to install them if I decide to keep them?

Thanks for anyones help

FRPP C springs only lower your ride 1"-1.5" which is around the limit your stock struts can handle. It won't be perfect but you can drive with the c's.

Are you lowering it for looks or for performance? If your just going for the looks and just don't want the 4x4 look then i say just go for the Ford springs. I believe those are the same that are on the Bullitt. I don't know what springs you got, but your stock shocks and struts are paired with the stock springs for a reason and lowering springs are just going to beat the car to **** no matter how much you lower it. Yes i did say go for the FORD springs because you have a better chance of not messing up the shocks and struts.

If you are going for performance than I would wait and do a combo of springs/shocks struts/and a camber kit. Those are musts for lowering right. If you opted to get the camber kit your camber is going to be all jacked up once you lower it and if you opted to lower it with springs like eibachs or h&r's than your going to have to replace the shocks and struts eventually after they get blown. Not to mention possible subframes with a lowered mustang so that the car stays straight due to more stress from lowering it.

You can install them in about four hours...or eight, just depends on how fast you work. If you put the C springs on, your going to wear out your dampers much quicker than your stock springs would. So your ride quality is going to suck without dampers that are capable to handle the spring rate of the C springs. You may or may not need caster/camber plates, you'd have to install them and see.

The part with the tires getting worn out is if you don't get the car realigned. Then you will wear out the inside of the front tires very fast. Just be sure to tell the shop that does the alignment that you lowered the car and need to change the camber settings. My local shop told me they do this and infact never changed the chamber settings and I was an idiot and never looked and they wore out my front tires on the inside in around a year. So be sure to tell them that.

I installed Eibach pros without camber plates and ended up needing them but I don't think the C springs give as much of a drop as the prokit so you might be fine there. You will definately want to get it realigned. You can keep the alignment shop honest by making a scribe on the factory plate and strut tower to see if they in fact adjusted the camber. As for you shocks and struts what is the mileage on them? You may be close to needing new ones anyway, in which case an upgrade to tokico HPs wouldn't cost much more.

To sum it up I would get Tokico blues/hps ($291 with AM discount) if you have over 50k on the stockers and skip the plates for now.

Ok thanks for the info. Ive decided instead of choosing between installing the springs or buying slps, why not have both lol. I have money saved up so I ordered the SLP loudmouth 1s because my Macs just aren't doing it for me anymore. Me and my friend are installing both tomorrow in his garage that has a pit so wish me luck that nothing goes wrong (mainly in reference to the spring install lol). Im so excited now I don't know if ill be able to sleep much tonight lol. Ill post pictures probably thursday after I get off work unless I feel really motivated to take them tomorrow night

Both are pretty easy to install. Just get an early start so you don't find yoursef in a mad dash later in the day. Can't wait to see the progress.

Were starting around 1ish in the afternoon so we should be done tomorrow night (knock on wood) lol. The catback im not worried about I installed the macs so that part will only take a hour or so especially with the pit and im taking off the macs and not the stockers so no cutting necessary. Its just the springs im weary about but my friend has installed springs on a eclipse and fox body before and with the instructions from americanmuscle and spring compressor we shouldnt have too much of a problem
