Michael Vick gets 2 years in prison and Donte Stallworth gets a month in jail for killing someone? |
Michael Vicks was against district attorneys
Donte Stallworth was able to offer a large amount of money to the family to drop the charges. Money talks. The guy he hit crossing the highway was jay-walking a super busy highway here in miami. The old man crossing the street was risking his life regardless. |
he was drunk...... all that is thrown out in my eyes
|
Well the difference here is that this guy stopped the car and called the police, and admitted to everything, and though he was drunk driving, it seems like a legit accident. Now, michael vick was holding dog fights. He knew he was doing something illegal and still tried to fight it. Ive lost tons of respect for michael vick due to that. Im a MEGA dog lover. Cant help it.

I love dogs too, I have 2 of them, but in no way is having illegal dog fighting the same as driving drunk and killing someone. There's no comparison. 30 days or should I say 24 days in jail is pathetic. Hell Keifer Sutherland did that for just a DUI case and he didn't kill anyone and he has plenty of money.
|
^^^^ +1 thank you for seeing my point...... and then again if i did this there is no way that i would get off with anything less than the maximum penalty
|
You still gotta consider how the situation was handled.
You got one guy that manned up knowing good and damn well what could happen to him, and you got another who was all "Dog fighting? Me? Nawww." Plus the jay walking thing would have a LITTLE bit to do with it. Laws are laws, and judges are always gonna look at it that way. |
Im gonna try that then. I'm gonna run someone over and kill them and then I'll man up and say my bad. And in my defense I'll say, well you know, the guy was jay walking so he kinda deserved it. I'll take my 30 days and continue on with my life while the other guy lays in a 6' grave.
|
I never remember Mike lying to the cops about the situation. He never had the chance. He lied to Rodger Goodell. He plead guilty because the cops had persuaded his 2 punk ass cousins to snitch on him and it was no way he could beat two snitches

**Clears throat.** In best Ziggy Impression: "F^ckin' thugs."
Michael Vick is a Piece of trash that lied about what he was doing then flipped and pled guilty because his lawyers knew that the prossecuters would throw him under the jail if he didn't. I'd be willing to bet that there were a lot of different things happening in this situation.. The guy that he hit was probably an illegal.. blah blah blah. You also notice that it doesn't mention what his blood/alcohol level was, so he may have been "drinking but not legally drunk." |
I think he should have got more than 30 days too. This is the way the legal system is though. The family is supposedly happy with the sentence and i am sure the money they settled on. While the money should not be a factor at all since this was a criminal case and the settlement was so there would nit be a civil case i am sure the Judge took that into account and also the family. The prosecuter agreed to this plea deal and i am sure he got the families input on it. this is what happens when they agree to the plea deal it goes to the judge and if the judge wants they can up the jail time but usually they follow what the agreement suggests.

30 days in jail, 2 years house arrest, 8 years probation, he has to report to a probation officer twice a week for the next 10 years, license is suspended for the rest of his life. 1,000 community service hours. He has to do classes educating the public on the dangers of drunk driving. Not to mention the millions he paid the family. I honestly think thats pretty fair. 10 years or reporting to a probation officer is a long time.
Michael vicks knew what he was doing. Stallworth went out to a lounge drinking and he didn't even leave right away, he stayed there waiting to sober up and left at like 7am-8am when he thought he was sober. im sure 75% of the people on this forum are guilty of that, lots of us go to bars drinking, and once were done with out last drink we wait around for a long time waiting to sober up. He left the beach traffic fine without hitting someone, he hit someone jay walking on a fucking 5 lane highway which cars hitting 60-70mph at the crack of dawn with poor visibility. Thats something that someone with poor vision could of done. |
Spin... they fucked up...and both deserve to be ruined financially and socially... not defended to any degree by anyone.
|
yeah they both did. But Stallworth punishment is fair.
and Stallworth is far from being financially ruined. 37 million dollar contract and a 4.5 million bonus the day before he killed the guy. |
I would take probation over jail anytime. Yeah Im sure it sucks having to report to someone twice a week, but it beats getting your ass tickled in prison. I still don't feel 30 days was long enough. The probation is fine, but he should serve more jail time. I'm sure the guy was an illegal and his family probably could care less that he's dead consider the nice chunk of change they just got. Still doesn't seem right.

deserved to be.... I know they didnt get what they deserved... any regular person would be in prison for years. special treatment for thugs... yay!!...go legal system go!!
Not thugs, celebrities. Any regular black person caught jay walking gets a min of 25 to life. I cant imagine DUI manslaughter. |
Vick should still be in prison.
Stallworth should have received a healthy penalty for manslaughter. That was someone's family member. |
my man u need to watch the way you are throwing thug out like that
so not cool no matter how you feel he was not selling dope to kids or killing people he was fighting DOGS not a thug at all he was getting illegal entertainment pretty sure you have downloaded a movie offline ILLEGAL!!!! michael vick was a guinea pig dog fighting is hard to stop being that it is so underground so lets lock up the highest paid nfl player and let people know we are serious about stopping dog fighting or at least pretend to be SOME people stopped fighting dogs when vick went to jail bc no one wants to spend a year in jail for something so minor and nor do they have the money to fight the case so they will prob spend more time than that its how the legal system works there is no lets stop dog fighting task team its not worth our tax dollars we are not going to stop every crime stallworth case has a million variables they are really not comparable |
I can't really justify calling this guy a thug.. (I know that I did jokingly earlier) I mean, he did stop, admitted guilt and was willing to accept the consequences of his actions. He got lucky, the person that he hit was obviously not that important, he probably paid some illegal family $300k and they didn't file suit.
The jail time doesn't really fit, but I think all that they were "charging" him with was DUI. So, 30 days plus the lifetime loss of his license with no right to appeal for 5 years, plus years of probation and I think it was over 1000 hours of community service is a lot of punishment in itself. I don't consider the house arrest punishment because the guy is loaded, he can have anything he wants in his house or brought to it. |
They are by no means thugs... I can show you some thugs so you can see what the real meaning of the word is... i think the punishment for vick was way 2 firm and stallworth is getting off EXTREMELY lucky... oh well... money talks in stallworths case....and i agree with 10507158.. thats why Plaxico is going to get messed up... people want to set examples

I wouldn't automatically assume that someone living in Miami was an illgeal. I put that out there as an option because the guys name was Mario Reyes.
Ill go with that possibility too. |

Ill go with that possibility too. 99% of the people in miami have a latin name. google attorneys in miami, and everyname sounds like an illegal name. everyone that lives down here is from some sort of hispanic origin. Its shocking to see a 100% american down here. |

I'm a die hard Virginia Tech fan and I loved Michael Vick as an athlete...but there is no way in hell you could defend what he did and claim it wasn't thuggish. Your comparison of pirating music and dog fighting is the biggest stretch ever. That's like comparing verbal assault to murder. Take a look at his younger brother and you can see the kind of life they lived. It just took Mike a little longer to get into trouble. |
