Tentative Schedule and Cruise Information for Saturday May 17th.
(Click on the maps below for a larger version.)
Saturday:
- Gates open at 10:00 AM and the park will close at 7:00 PM.
- Vehicle admission to the park is $8. (Park Rules, not mine)
- 9:30 PM there will be a laser show on the face of Stone Mountain (Very cool by the way)
- Start arriving at 10:00 AM and begin to gather in the "Mountain Top Lot" which is just off Robert E. Lee Blvd and John B. Gordon inside the park where the Skyride Area is located.
- Meet and greet in the lot from 10:00 AM till Noon. At noon, we will grab some lunch inside the park at one of the eateries.
- After lunch we will go as a group (if you want) to the Antique Car & Treasure Museum that houses an amazing private collection of vintage automobiles and other memorabilia. See antique Mustangs, Chevys, even a Tucker! Reminisce over historic toys, bicycles, and jukeboxes.
- At 2:30 we will begin our cruise around beautiful Stone Mountain and Stone Mountain Lake. We will leave the Mountain Top Lot and take a left on Robert E. Lee Blvd. About half way around, Stonewall Jackson Drive will be on the right just after "21 S/R" parking lot. This route is more rural with less traffic so we will follow this around the outside of the lake and pass over a few small bridges. After we pass over the public boat ramp we will be nearing all of the camp sites. We will take a left into lot A which has a small secondary road with a loop at the end. This is a great photo op for everyone to be in a line for some fantastic pictures. Since there is a loop at the end, we can turn around easily and head back out onto Stonewall Jackson Drive. At the end of the road we will be near the main gate entrance so be careful as we are making a left back onto Jefferson Davis Drive. From here we will return to the Mountain Top Lot.
- There is no tentative length for the cruise so we will play it by ear. After the return to the parking lot, feel free to do as you wish. This is a great opportunity to check out the attractions in the park. You can take a Summit Skyride to the top of Stone Mountain, check out the museum, ride the Scenic Railroad, miniature golf, if you have children they have The Great Barn with slides and trampoline floors, or take the Treehouse Challenge. There are also paddlewheel riverboats or pedal boats.
- Again, at 9:30 there is the big Lasershow Spectacular. The cost is free with your vehicle admission to the park. The laser show will last 45 minutes.
- After all the events are over in the park for Saturday, please be careful as you leave and head back to the hotel or whatever you plan on doing afterwards. Remember there are families and children so show Stone Mountain that SilverMustangs.com is a group of great individuals so that we can plan on doing this each year around the same time. There is a police station on site and the park is aware that we are coming. I spoke with Wendy and assured her there would be no burn outs or any revving while we are there. Thanks
This will be a great time!

Tentative Schedule and Cruise Information for Sunday May 18th.
Sunday:
- Most checkout times from hotels will be late morning and several have long drives back home, so Sunday will be a relax day if you choose.
- We will do the last portion of our cruise on Sunday starting at 10:30. We will meet in the Days Inn Stone Mountain parking lot and head into downtown Atlanta from that point.
- From there we will head to The Varsity for lunch. http://www.thevarsity.com For those that do not know about The Varsity...well it's the World's Largest Drive-in and sits on more than two acres and can accommodate 600 cars and over eight hundred people inside. On days of Georgia Tech football games up to 30,000 people visit The Varsity. It sells more than two miles of hotdogs daily, a ton of onion rings, 2500 pounds of fresh cut potatoes, 5000 homemade fried pies, and 300 gallons of chili, all of which are made from scratch daily. The downtown Varsity is also the world's largest single outlet for Coca-Cola.
- After that..the choice is yours. Downtown Atlanta boasts tons of things to do. We are talking about going to the Georgia Aquarium. If you plan to go to the aquarium, call ahead for tickets. We hear it sells out on a daily basis. http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/
- Some have talked about Six Flags over Georgia possibly on Monday for those that are extending their stay. http://www.sixflags.com/overGeorgia/index.aspx
This is the only information for Sunday as of now. I will keep you updated on any additions or changes.
