Default pickin' a fight

I just saw the new stang and it looks so gay! The front end is nice; don't get me wrong, but the rear end looks like so sissy. My fav body style is the 99-2004, so maybe I'm a little jaded. I know Mustangs were originally intended for girls way back in 64 1/2, but still . . . And another thing, is Ford going to try and compete with the Chevy Comarro? The 6 has over 300 hp and the 8 has more than an srt-8 challenger but cost $10,000 less. I understand that Chrysler is about to file bankruptcy so the challenger may be a mute point . . . Check out my multiple ellipses isn't that cool?

2011 Stangs should have quite a bit more power. But I agree 99-04 was the best body style...that and the hatchback fox's I think.

Uh.. I was under the impression that the V6 Camaro had 296hp. And who cares how much power it has... It's still a Chevy

I know it sounds like I'm kissing your ***, but I love the mach-1'a with the scoop coming out of the hood. My old fist-shirt had one and I thought that the thing was real untill he showed me. Kind of reminds me of the old t/a's. I also know that Ford has the Shellby, but c'mon for that price you're talking about vettes being the competition, and no offense but the new z06 or zr1 would hurt a shelby. How much of a power increase are we talking about here?

The new 5.0's should have 400hp. Hopefully they keep them at a fair price (by that I mean under $35k.)

I hope so. I was looking at getting a car soon, and I wanted to stay with the mustangs, but the rear end killed it for me. II really wanted the Audi rs6 avant but they are way (waywayway) outta my price range and they don't have them here. I always thought it would be cool to kick someone's *** in a wagon. I even thought about the magnum srt8, but with the way crysler is f-ing up I don't want any part of that.

I'm sure they will go up some, but who knows if that 400hp will actually be the power that comes out. I believe the 400hp they mentioned was a 4V 5.0l engine. I doubt Ford is going to put a 4V in the GT. We will see though. It will still be pricey. The new camaros are too damn expensive as well. I was looking at a few dealerships and they were selling the SS for 43K. I would just cough up another 7K or so and buy a vette. I do like the body style though of the 2010 Mustang. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. I would be happy if Ford got the Mustang GT to at least 350hp and dropped about 200-300lbs. It would be a pretty quick car stock.

The Camaro is not going to be a whole lot of competition if GM shuts down.

The mustang can basically sit and just wat a year for the camaro to die again.

GM is only going under Chapter 11 protection, it isn't being liquidated. the camaro will still be around.

That's crazy dealer markup, though. I saw a 1SS in my area for only 32k.

That's true and it's sad that people actually pay that price. They just need to wait a little longer for that markup to be gone. They were also saying that with the bankruptcy that GM cars will lose another 10% in resale value. I guess right now their resale value after 3 years is about 58% and I believe they said Chrysler was like 32% or something low like that. Looks like it might be a good time to buy my GTO soon. haha

It's not a 6.0 plus 50 less hp. Doesn't look as good either.

True. But who knows what sort of restrictions the gov't may put on them. They may tell Chevy that they can only make hybrids or electric cars for all we know

Good point. Under normal circumstances, I would think that as far fetched. But with the new administration, anything is a possibility.

Why would Chevy make one? It's made by Tesla Motors right here in California. I actually saw one a few weeks back.

If they have to go to hybrids, why not make a hybrid vette? The new bodystyle looks pretty sick. How does the Tesla look in person?

A hybrid vette would probably be too costly. All these cool hybrids that are actually fast and everything cost way too much. The tesla wasn't bad looking in person. Kinda reminded me of a Lotus elise/exige or something. I think Tesla Motors is fairly close to where I work. Theres a guy around here who made an electric Ariel Atom with 250hp or so. If you don't know what that is, look it up. It's a pretty sweet little car that is lighter than a Lotus Elise and handles like a dream. Or youtube Ariel Atom on Top Gear.

I am an avid Top Gear fan. The Atom is cool. I believe this thread has outlived its use . . .
