i didnt think our cars had a speed limiter
#3
My vert use to top out at 135!
#4
It should say in the manual. I wouldnt think you would need to worry about it though.
#5
Where are you going to go that fast anyways?
#6
yeah the speed limiter stock is 135...and no it doesnt say in the manual , it just says the same thing the predator prompts you with. Does anyone know?
#7
No, the speed limiter is somewhere around 155.
My car made it to 140 before it wouldnt accelerate any faster. With 4.10s you can take it to 155.

are you sure??? cus i have seen some BUILT stangs but only top out at 135...and ive heard on sveral occasions that its 135...

Leave it alone
The factory rev limited is set at 6250rpm on your car (pretty sure - this is what my failing memory tells me), and unless you spring for all forged internals and power adders galore, your car stops producing new power at rpms levels lower than that. Leave the limiter alone - it will save your bacon if you miss a shift or your foot slips. Lots of folks actually drop the rpm's on the limiter down a bit (6000 or so).

Thats the rev limiter though, hes asking about the speed limiter, or govenor. Just leave it on, if you are SANE, and not stupid, you wont be going that fast on the street, and if you ever get your car that fast at the race track, you wont be using a predator to tune it, thats for sure.

Must confess I've never explored the speed limiter section - guess I was waiting for it to be a problem...
OK, most factory governors are set to prevent you outrunning your tires. The Mustangs who came with ZR rated tires are good to 155 - the ones with lower rated tires to 135 or less (again, depending on the tires).
Buy cheap tires - you'd better lower your speed limiter if you live in Germany, land of the wide, no-speed-limit autobahn! (Just read my Car & Driver - article about new Audi 8 (400+hp) test drive and encounter with Mercedes SL5.5 AMG (505hp) on the autobahn. Audi won due to lack of speed limiter and better tires (165mph) vs AMG (155mph speed limiter).) If you ever go over there, its NOT like our interstates!

Id love to go on that and just top this stang out. Id like to see the look on some of these AMG owners when you are going 150+.

LOL, no doubt me too. Does anyone know if americans can drive on it over there?
#15
Lived there, done that

Cars have to meet strict safety inspections - and getting a driver's license requires years of expensive study/training (most folks take private instruction from a certified training company) and a road test which I honestly believe 95% of Americans could never pass.
Gas costs $8 a gallon ($7 tax) and diesel is a LOT less - so most folks drive diesels.

You won't like what you get!!
There is a race in Nevada every year where you can enter your car. No speed limit at all! While your mustang may handle fairly well between 60 -95mph, when those vipers and vettes rocket by you going 160 -170-mph, not to mention the german and italian sports cars, hopefully you'll throttle back and realize that no matter what you have done to your mustang in the way of mods, it is still just a car to be driven on the streets or 1/4 mile strip. Life is short enough without you playing russian roulette and maybe taking some innocents with you.

it's above 135 on gt's and cobras. a v6 is 135.

hey jon
hows the power increase on that GT with the diablo tune up in this high altitude?
ive been wanting to get a diablo tuner, but not if it only gives me 5-10hp.
did you notice a sizeable difference in performance?

they say 15-20 hp.. i felt a difference w/ the tuner and k&n FIPK (i did them at the same time) i actually feel a little more pick up in first and second, its not GREAT but i can feel it. If i were to do it all over again i wouldve done my research and gotten an SCT Xcal 2...

With the straights i lose backpressure and lose some HP in the lower end, but it seems to make up in the higher band.
More pickup in 1st/.2nd is exactly what im lookin for....
400 bucks tho... Ugh.
#22
yeah i know gotta have some nice bank ...and also, you have an auto dont you?? i dunno how it would affect it differently cus its an auto
#23
If you want pickup, just get some 4.10's installed. Dont spend the money on the predator, get a custom burnt chip. It will give a lot better gains. JMHO...
#24
agreed with madmatt on the 4.10s for sure! i have them waiting installation
#25
Did you have the stock gears (3.23 etc.) when it would shut down at 135 and then put in the 4.10's and made it to 155? That doesnt make sense an 4.10 should have more low end and not top end.
#26
Stock gears are 3.27, not 3.23.

There is no way you went over 200 mph in a Porshe.I've been there too and owned a older 911 and they won't go that fast. There are only a few car's that will top 200 mph and they are few and far between. There are speed limit's on the Autobahn just not in certain area's.As far as your Opel doing 120 I say BS to that too.And sorry there are no V6 4 wheel drives doing 180 either.
Tires have a speed rating for a reason. If you go 150 on a tire speed rated for only 120 there is a good chance that they might come apart on you.
So before you come onto a Forum and try and disrespect everyone on here at least tell some believable BS and not look like a complete ***.
