you sure do talk alot of shiit about everyone else when your mom bought your car, the mods, pays the insurance, and puts gas in that ugly pos, that you cant even keep from being smashed up or wrecked. Mabye when your life isnt handed to you on a silver plater, then you can talk about someone elses ride.

Hmm, and 5000 posts to top it off!

My parents bought me a truck for graduation back in 96' lol. I appreciated the hell out of that thing and it was my baby..I dropped $20,000+ fixing it up and swore I would never sell it. It was always in perfect shape and always clean. I bought an F150 and now my Mustang and have since sold the graduation present...anyway I took better care of the truck my parents bought me simply because it was a gift and I appreciated it more than something that I bought with my own money simply because if I mess my car up, I will only **** myself off instead of pissing myself and my parents off. I have a clean accident record and no tickets. The smashed bumper was out of my control. Yes I do appreciate what I have and every bit of it is my money..but opposite of what you said Matt, I appreciated my truck that my parents gave me more. I guess everyone is different?

yeah i dont know why its such a big deal that his parents bought his car for him. my mom bought my first truck also. that doesnt mean i dont know the value of a dollar. now i have a stang, an explorer, a house, a boat, i could keep going on. and all of that i paid for myself.

The problem isn't that his mom bought his car. Tons of kids' parents buy their first car, but mattj summed it up quite nicely...he talks **** and drives the crap out of it. Twice he banged up his front bumper. First because of being stupid and while I don't know the exact situation of the 2nd, I assume it was avoidable. Something about an 11th grader, 280 hp, 4.10 gears, snow, and an "I'm the coolest" attitude just don't mix well. And well....you can see the results.

The kid doesn't even go to school half the time. He says he'll go for a half a day and won't feel like staying so he just leaves...wow...that speaks tons about him

thats kinda how i was in scool too though, i was barely there. i graduated with a 4.0 and now im the IT manager/web master for the company i work for, i make good money and i leave work by 3pm.. some people can pull that off, who are you to tell him that he cant? that should be up to his mom, especially since shes the one thats paying for his car etc... im not trying to take his side on this, i just dont understand why everyone has such a problem with him. i hear remarks all the time about how his mom payed for his car. my mom payed for my first truck! who cares? he has an attitude, who cares? this is teh internet, who gives a ****? everyone has an attitude about certain things.

edit: and dammit lance and christie, i told you two once to get a room, jk..

shhhh, im trying to trick him and steal his hood and wheels

but yeah.. no matter what, in this whole car business as soon as someone finds out a parent bought your car you're screwed. A guy I know locally has a c5 corvette that his dad bought for him.. whenever he's talking **** with everyone they ALWAYS hit on the "daddy bought vette" comment. This is just common I guess.

You're right. In high school this douche had a 70 chevelle big block, custom paint wheels, interior, fast as hell and in show quality. His dad built the car and gave it to him and yes a lot of the comments we made to him were out of jealousy, but he had the cockiest attitude about it. Just b/c his family had $, he'd talk **** on all of us trying to fix up our cars on $6.00/hr. Another kids dad restored a slcik 69 camaro and gave it to him. He ran it into a ditch once and annihilated a mailbox another time. I know if I ever have kids I would love to share the automotive hobby with them but I assure you no car will be handed to them. When I was 12, my dad had me helping mowing lawns to save up for a car and when I was 15, I wrote a check for my Iroc, $5,300. ( and I took damn good care of it) He basically said I wouldn't get any chicks in high school on a huffy. So basically what I have seen from people that have had their cars given to them, they tear em up and don't respect what they have b/c they didn't have to earn it.

You guys are missing whats being said here. Its perfectly fine to recieve a gift and be gratefull for it. But when you take your gift and dont take care of it and tell everybodys that theirs is ugly or sucks, its a different story.
