Default Hope this never happens to our forum...

This just goes to show you that when the guys here tell you to keep your racing to the track... they're just looking out for your (and others) well being.

Here's a thread started by a 18 year old kid on the M5 forums...
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...d.php?t=111454

Kid started a thread about shifting.. goes on to say something about speeds up to 140.. they discuss quite a few things and he is warned to be careful. One guy even tells him if he messes around he is likely to end up on the news.

Then here's the next thread...
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...d.php?t=111545

The members of the board looked at the deatils of the accident, involved 5 teenagers, driver of the car was an 18 year old named Josh. The kid that posted on the forums earlier, posted as Josh, and claimed to live in Florida...where the accident took place. There's no 100% evidence that it is him.. but it looks like the same person. Just another reminder to be safe, especially with other people in your car.

Did you see the pic of the wreck? no way he was going under 120mph. It doesent matter how safe the car is, at the speed he was going he managed to split the car in half and mangled it to the point people are still debating on the m5 forumboards if it IS an M5

That sucks man. Thats why when i hear these people coming on here bragging about going 100+mph it really angers me. I would rather have a good 0-60 than a top speed. Unless I'm at the track I don't go faster than 75. And I rarely even go that fast.

yeah...no car is safe at those speeds I know...what I meant is that compared to most production cars bimmers rank very high in safety...I've seen a few vids of them on the autobahn doing 120+ and rolling the car..and then the driver walking away. I guess I was surprised at the total destruction of that car, but given the speed potential of it, and the fact that a teenager was behind the wheel...etc... it didnt stand a chance.

that forum is either fugged up or they can't cope with the traffic... but I'm getting database errors when I try to load the pages.

Could someone put the Cliff's notes here so we can know more than a dumbass 18yo kid with a $75K car killed 4 of his friends.

That's tragic, but I can't really say I feel sorry for the kid. Just another dumb ******* rich boy.

Stupid ****, I've never been over 85.

M5froth I completley understand where you are coming from assuming that I am irresponsible..that is definetly understandable. I do sometimes make bad decisions but I am young and I do drive safe and I will not endanger the lives of others..
He failed.......

Happens every day......this is what happens when you take immature kids and toss them the keys of a car they should not be driving. I call it natural selection. It is not a tragety that the driver died, but I feel bad for the passengers especially the ones that were probably yelling at the dumb-*** to stop.

The parents of the driver should be charged with manslaughter for the deaths of the other kids for giving their moronic kid a lethal weapon. Let me guess....either his dad was some rich a-hole who was never around, or his parents are divorced and he lives with his mom whoe says "Josh is such a nice kid and I want to be his friend". I seriously doubt he bought the car with his own money selling stocks.

Look, I hate to stereotype and I could be way off base, but something tells me I am probably pretty close to the truth.

This **** is really disturbing....too bad so many lives had to be ruined by the actions of one.

If you street race, promote street racing, or egg-on other drivers to do the same, this story is your eventual future. Kill yourself, I don't really care. Kill someone else, you will hope you are dead anyway due to the guilt. Kill a loved-one of mine and I will hunt you down.

I hate to preach about this crap all the time.....but someone has to. This is not the first story like this to get around....In fact, we have had people from this board who have either gotten caught or smashed-up a car....or worse.

I will end with a quick story about youth.....

There are two bulls sitting on a hill overlooking a 100 cows. One is a muscle-bound teenager and the other a seasoned veteran. The young bull says:

"Hey pappy, I am gonna run down this hill and _ uck all them cows"

The older one says, "Son, I am going to waltz down this hill and make love to each of them one at a time."

Morale of the story....speed kills, but immaturity plus speed kills four of your friends.

I like how in the first post he said he traded in his 335i and just paid the difference for the 08 M5.right. That is a huge difference in price and those new M5s aren't cheap.

The sad part is the families left behind to deal with the aftermath. So senseless. OK so you have 500 hp, the street is not the place for that. Rich or poor it happens everyday. Take it to a place where the enviorment is controlled and none of your DUMBASS friends can be hunt. I hope this an eye opener for some of the young guys in our forum. NO CAR IS WORTH DYING FOR!!!!

Well, the vid said they were on an abandoned airstrip. That was just ignorance of not knowing where the runway stops. Still not a good excuse for what happened but, who wouldn't want to just go wide open on a runway? still a tragic accident, and I feel for their families. I don't think I could ever give a kid that young something with that much power. their just not mature enought for it. +1 on the street racing

The parents of the driver should be charged with manslaughter for the deaths of the other kids..

WaterDR.. You should rethink that one bro. Maybe at the harshest of liability for the parents would be some sort of civil lawsuit. But criminal charges for whatever your child does??. That would put every parent of a child who killed someone in prison. You can't do that.. Yes it was a tragedy and should not have happened, but The parents can only be held responsible to a certain degree..

This story is spreading like crazy....It was posted over on a dirt bike forum I post on sometimes. I also heard it wasn't even his car, it was his dads car, but who knows.

What a horrible story!

My comments weere really mostly "tongue in cheek"....I was not being completely serious, but it does bring up a point. There are cases like this where parents of minors have been dragged-into the picture. I am not sure how I feel about it.
