24lb should suffice.

Your tuner wont have a problem making the 36's work, unless he has absolutely NO idea what hes doing. Too much injector is a lot better then too little.

Ask your tuner.

The 02-04 have pink ones which they say are 22# injectors, but some say they are just recolored 19#ers. I have yet to see some hard evidence on if they are really 22#ers or just 19# ones.

how would you be able to tell? What about when someone is tuning your car...do they have to factor in the injector size? Are there any tuners on here that would know the lb?

Shouldn't be any 01's with 21/22's. There might be a couple late production 01's but I've never seen one.

to a point yeah but drivability and mileage can suffer if he doesn't trim the slope right.

evidence would come in the form of a smoked motor. If you take out he pink tops and put in the yellow tops you'll run it hella lean. The adaptive controls should figure it out but not probably before engine damage.

See above. I tune my own car with SCT software. There are pre-fabbed injector slope value files available for the various tuning softwares. SCT includes them with theirs. Once you've got the correct file loaded then you can move on to MAF xfer tinkerings and the rest of the process.

Your tuner knows on sight if he's done this enough times.

Well...guess that sums up this thread. Red how old are you? You know ALOT about...well...ALOT. Good info! Might have to have you check my tuning on my car when we have the GTG if you can bring a laptop and your software. I have a SCT Xcal-2. I could definately use your knowledge on the tuning part. I'm nervous about getting my car tuned for the first time. But i could definately buy you some food or something when we have the GTG for your time.

I can only look at the file but your tuner is better equipped than me to judge his work.

I'm... old.

I just want to add that my 2002 GT has 19# (yellow tops). So not all 2002's will have 21/22's

I guess the bigger question might be "why do you need bigger ones?". I might be inclined to buy them if the price is right and just hold on to them until you are making enough power. Slapping on bigger injectors and paying for a tune really won't net you more power unless your tune was not right to begin with OR your current injectors are too small.

he's looking at 300rwhp on the high side... 19's are at the last few percent of their duty cycle making 365 engine hp. 21/22 pink tops are ok but I'd skip em and go to 24's for a bunch of reasons.

Remember, the rating of injector volume is for a specific pressure. If you don't know what you'll need then you can have your tuner tell you. If you're using a handheld then you can leave some leeway in the tune for a 2nd injector slope and upgrade if you find they're sliding up close to 100% duty cycle at WOT.

just like a bigger jets in a given size carb aren't always needed, bigger injectors aren't always the right thing.

Wait till the tune. you don't have run those 19's to fully 100%

yeah i was told to wait until i get heads to change the injectors. I have VT stage 2 cams and they dont pull enough to swap out the injectors yet. I was told to wait until after i get the heads to even think about the 24's.

you'll only ever need to contemplate a bigger maf when you add boost. You're still NA it would seem so no. You'll never need one unless that changes.
