Default My tire choice.

Well let the bashing begin if you must but I am going to Discount tires on monday for tires.

I have sat here and researched tires for hours, called people and talked to the DT people and I have decided on the Continental ContiExtremes
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...r=40&tc=CONHZ3
For the price, treadwear, wet driveability it looks like the pick of the bunch.
Yea I'd like some Nitto DR's but this car sees over 30,000 miles a year. And its obviously going to rain in Texas everyday for all of eternity. I am going with 245/45 on the front and 275/40 on the rear. As we get some wear on them I will post on how they perform if you would like.
Price for those sizes is 635 out the door.
They also have a certificate program that would jack the price to 715.
It says if I damage the tire beyond "safe repair" that they will replace the tire for free.
Anyone know if they stand behind this or is it a ploy to take your money just to weisel out of it when you need it?

Oh and another thing do any of you think they can be talked down off this price? I hear alot of people say they never pay list at Discount Tire but how do you start asking them to lower the price? I suck at that and never get anywhere. It's a pretty cheap price already but hey if you can save 10 buck for something else why not.

The high performance tires look to be good for me for about 3-4 months. I cant do that. 15,000-20,000 miles is unacceptable.

Most of their reviews rave about tread life?
I'm not questioning your knowledge, I'm sure your knowledgeable on these. I just want to do my homework and get the most tire for the buck. Any suggestions on good tread life in a somewhat performance tire.

Riken Raptor ZR's!! They are cheap as hell and i love the tread pattern. Thats what i'm running anyway... It is definitely a budget tire, so far its lasted me about 22,000 miles

Default Toyo FTW!

I had some Toyo proxes Z4 or something like that last me 40k and I am surely not good on tires. I never rotated em and only checked the pressure in em when I look and think .... hmmm that tire might be low (lol) I got those for $684 two years ago at Gate Way tire. That was mounting ballancing and front end allignment. IMO those were some damn good tires for the money, I am buying another set after these sumitomos go!

Kinda what I was thinking but I didn't want to laugh.
I looked at the back side of the rim best I could here at work with it still on the car and couldn't see size on the back. But I would guess by looking that they are 8.

PColav6 I think he is refering to the back side of the rims sometimes have the wheel dimensions stamped into the rim in small 1/4 or 1/2 inch numbers.
