Default LOL rear end is f'ed

So i about 2 days ago had a weird pop sound and my rear was feeling weird so i opened it up and first thing i see is spider gears with big chips in them, awesome i know. Next i look at the axles and find out my driver side one is bent. Ring and pinion look good but who cares cause now it all needs to be fixed or upgraded. Looks like im getting a built rear and gears sooner then i wanted too. Good thing on on vacation and found this out now.

So in closing, nitrous+power shifting+drag radials for 3 years=awesome rear end fun

28spline mosers, new spider gears, new clutch packs for posi,3.73's or 4.10s. Not sure on the gearing as with nitrous on a street car i think 4.10s are a bit to much. I know i am going to use a 26" drag radial still so i think 3.73's would be perfect for getting out of the hole and still having a strong 4th gear. Plus this is a street car before its anything else sadly.

But going 28 spline because i don't have the money for new 31 spline axles and posi but i know a guy selling moser 28's for $150 with studs and abs rings and i can keep my posi housing and just fix it. Would go 31, but that will be down the road. Besides i don't know of anyone who broke a 28 spline moser. Only heard of one 650rwhp car bending it. Also got to get new rear shocks mine are shot and the rear end bounces when the bottle hits.

Damn this is getting expensive for a college student. Might have to push back my MBA just so i can pay for all this stuff lol, not.

28 is fine... if you bend one at least it was a cheap part to replace. Sounds like you found a helluva deal though... I'd do it.

3.73 ftw... but then again I just don't like 4.10's so I'm biased.

Stock axles bend by the simplest things. 28 spline is fine if you are not planning on putting a 28" slick on there and dropping the hammer at 5K+ rpms. You'll snap mosers before you bend them...

I knew it would eventually happen regarding your treatment with that car. I always just wondered "when is it gonna happen to him..."

I went thru this in August when I broke a stock axle on Nitto's.

I was kinda on a budget but I went with 31 spline Moser axles anyway. I went with a 03 Cobra Diff which was under $200 brand new with my hookup. I figure if I have any problems with it I will add more clutches.
