so pretty much the gain is longer oil life, but if changed regularly no real difference ?

longer engine life under similar circumstances as well but yeah... for the most part it's only going to help cars that are whipped on either at the track or like they would be at a track. If you drive like a grandma it's not going to do anything for you.

Its more of a daily driver, that gets beat occasionally.

Definatly not a track car, but far from grandma.

well it just turned out to need more oil. i got the canton pan for the baffles in it to keep oil in the pickup tube. and the remote filter was for ease of changing the oil filter.

yea man i made it out ok, just coughing up white powder from the air bags but i'm fine. Just scarred the **** out of me since i had no clue she was about to hit me.

yea i got some pics but i can't get the pics off my phone. I took some in case the insurance place is a biotch but i'm hoping that its save able ya know. if so the guy with the motor is willing to let it go for 300 with shipping but thats if i get the car back......Its a mess though, about how much are they worth before the insurance place will total it out?

The girl that hit me in the rear was my GF and she "DRIFTED" her nissan into the back of my car and the weird thing is the rear made it out fairly well. The bumper cover is f'ed up so that is like a 700 dollar ford oem cobra bumper , o and it forced the exaust pipes into the side of my gas tank....didn't puncture it but messed up the plastic gaurd thing. The front is another matter. Man, it totaly aniahlated my cobra bumper, cracked my hood, lights are gone, fogs are gone, metal bumper gone, radiator support thing gone. what a mess.

so do you guys really think they are gonna total it? i looked up the pieces that they would need to replace and it was below 2k .... the radiator support thing that welds to the front was only like 150 bucks....I don't see why they would total it out when it would only cost that much in parts. **** i don't care if its not even painted i just don't want them to total out my car.

God i hope not..... I really don't want to loose my car. So the small things like scratches and such i shouldn't point out? just the major stuff that needs fixing? i actually think the back bumper cover is fine just needs painting. Don't know about the stuff under it though.

What value do they go for? I looked on kbb and it said that my car with the miles on it had "Sudjested Retail" at 8500 and "Private Party Value" at like 6---....... so what will that go with ??? i hope Sudjest. Retail.

yeah... they'll go with replacement cost which is usually right around KBB retail. Downside is you only have to hit 80% of value with most insurance companies to assure yourself of a totalled car.

I had just minor front end damage from my last little fender bender and it came to 6750 for repairs. If I was driving your car at the time, I'd be shopping for a new mustang already. Parts for my car came to 1500 bucks (I supplied the hood). The rest was paint and labor.

****........ and if they gave me a check for it how much do you think they would give? the 8500? is that right? if so i think i might be able to find a replacement car but for the 6k that is a strait rip off.

If i got to go get another i'm going to look for a cobra first and then a hard top gt. or a new edge.

Well... let's see what you're likely to get. Well... it would seem that prices for Turd-Stangs are pretty great in your area. You could see as little as 10K replacement value or as much as... are you ready... 15K. I **** you not. I've found prices in that whole range. The convertible aspect really helps a bunch. Expect a value assignment of 10.5. Whatever you owe gets subtracted and you have a nice down payment on a new-edge or a used 05+. I would get another turd if you plan to keep going with the 5.4 swap. They're cheapest. Or maybe a nice little notch-back fox body. THey're sick light weight.

so your saying 10k or up?????? wow i was thinking like 5k or something. My car has been paid off since it was purchased in 98 so i guess no money subtracted. So you are serious that i probably will get 10k up? even if it is Retailed at 8or so k? So what is the value assignment? i am totaly clueless to this process since this has never happened to me before. Also, my dad was like "if they total it out then your ****ed","this car isn't worth anything hardly".............. I just can't believe that it might get up to 15K.

I don't know, I'm hoping that i can get it fixed but it has a lot of problems anyway......if i could get 10 or 15 k this may be my chance to get another fox body......I've always missed my 89, it was my first car. I found my favorite body style the "85/86" and the dude has a 125 shot and stuff on it with a new red paint job for 4k. I don't know. I hope it works out for the best ya know.

if your still wanting to do the 5.4 swap, i'd look for a nice 6cyl that has a good body and interior. u could pick one up for 3-5k and then just a front wiring harness and a 5.4 and your set. that or try to buy yours back for under a grand after they total it and then get a 6cyl around the same year. unless u don't have another car or room to do this..

My dad said he was going to buy the car back if they totaled it....Its really not that bad if the frame isn't warped. I could do the work if i had a welder but damn. If it gets totalled i think i'm going to jump on that 86. I miss my fox somthing bad. O and i saw on auto trader they had a 99 or 2000 gt with a 5 speed for 7,995. SO that wasn't that bad but i like the fox for 4k and then some other goodies

There is so much to replace in a 6er. Harness, K member, suspension, trans, rear end, etc

that would be awesome for a full race car though

Thanks but that is a hike though, and i have had quite enough with verts for a while. After the first 3 months with my car i was looking to get another hard top. I just don't like all the noise and leaks.

I finally got unlazy enough to ship the pistons and rings back to MMR today.

After $8 in insurance, it cost $32 to ship them about 300 miles (at 12 pounds). Damn.

They should have em Monday, so hopefully the new ones ship to me Tuesday, then I can have em at the shop a week from today.

So far things are playing out good, next week I should be starting the hunt for my heads/intake and looking into some custom grind cams.
