Evo Stomped Me, I Need Advice!!!!
so, my whole class is into imports, and i'm the oddball out. this is my day: I get capped on every day for driving a mustang.. so the other day some guy in a 350Z talked trash (we raced and I beat him); then some guy in a 240sx (SR20 swap) talked trash and I beat him; then some guy in an EVO talked trash, we raced and he "STOMPED" 4 1/2 car lengths.. and i'm very upset.. what bugs me the most is that they talk sooo much bout me and the EVO but.. EVO's are sports tuned and they got a turbo.. not only that but they're runnin 18 lbs. of boost "STOCK".. I know my 2005 GT can handle 7 lbs. of boost stock, but does anyone have any recomendations, I need to beat this EVO.. ASAP these guys pick on me every single day.. what do i have to do to run at minimum 12 lbs. of boost.. I'm also limited on money, so if by any chance someones got a Turbo lying around and doesnt need it.. please let me know.. I get picked on, and teased every day cuz I drive my stang.. I need more power... I need advice to beat an EVO... thanx

you need a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous.
you can pick up a loaded nitrous kit for about 1000 bucks.
turbos are expensive - expect to pay 6000+ for it.
you can find used superchargers all day for 3000.
"how fast do you want to spend?" it all costs money...

Uhhh yeah......your gonna need more than a spare turbo lying around....lol
YOur gonna need a power adder no doubt. I dont think you have much mechanical background. It's gonna cost a pretty penny unless you get a used nitrous kit for like $400 but I wouldnt use it unless you knew what you were doing.
Btw I know a few 05 GT's that have a CAI, pulleys, and gears that can whip up on EVO's nicely but they are in the high 12's.

honestly, it takes nothing to get a new evo into the mid 12s. you can make your own boost controler, get a cotton air filter, and remove the cats and you have a significant increase in power.
not only that, but they can launch pretty sick being an AWD vehicle.

all you need to keep up with that evo is a pair of MT drag radials and 4:10 gears. If you want to smoke it then I say start saving for a supercharger. Just go right for it and skip the nitrous. Youll save money in the end.

Sounds like a bunch of little ricer racer ****. Not much you can do, just tell those dickless children to go slap some NOS stickers on thier crappy little imports and tell them to come back when they want to play with a read engine that doesent need a turbo.

Best bang for your buck will probably be the Venom VCN-1000 dry nitrous kit they sell here on american muscle, just click on the parts link on the bottom.
Some people have had trouble with those though,. so make sure whoever installs it knows what they are doing. its a lot cheaper than a wet kit, not quite as good, but great bang for the buck.
after that the cheapest mod yer really gonna feel would be 4:10 gearing. thats best for an auto tho for daily driving. if this is yer DD and it is standard go with 3:73 or 3:90.
of course yer speedo will be off untill you get a tuner.
personally i just couldnt give a **** what they say. i dont see why yer so worried. Dont wanna get shown up by the girls or something?
the only difference from those stupid little import tuner kids and a mustand driver is that the import kids parents bought them an import and they get thier heads full of that old bullshit that says all domestics are crap.

Throw in a 5.4 w/ a mild cam and let the torque do the talking. Other than that, a few things that'll get you accelerating faster for free: powershift and lose weight on the car (100lbs=.1 sec in the 1/4 mile). If you still want to keep the 4.6, a set of ported heads, cams, gears, shifter, and headers should be able to keep that ricer smelling the fumes of defeat.

Forget the EVO, Enjoy your car if you get mad or upset getting beat in race then you need a bicycle, no matter what you do to car some one out there is going to bust your ***** either verbally, stop light to stop light or on the track you will go broke trying to keep up with the other guy

Dude, don't even worry about those guys......it's really not that serious to be honest. I know right now in your life it probably is, but you'll look back on this in 10 years and laugh your azz off. You have a nice car so don't worry about it.
As for performance I'd get a set of good sticky tires and 4:10's, Cold Air Intake, hand held tuner, and pulleys like Ice said and you'll have a pretty quick car. Weight reductions not a bad idea since the 05+ stangs are kinda on the heavy side. Every little bit helps, but really don't worry about it. Enjoy your car.
Oh, and this might be the worst advice ever, but Jack will appreciate it......The guy with the Evo....bang one of, or all of the above.... his girlfriend....ex girlfriend....sister....mom or any combo and then when he whoops you in a race you can just smile and say "you got me dude"! ha ha

If you're really drive an '05 GT, sell it and get a terminator. That's the easiest way to whip an EVO. Also, if you're only 21 and can drive an '05 GTwith insurance and you complain about not having any money, well I can tell you why that is.

Dude, look at it this way: You are driving an American Legend, a car with a ton of history behind it. Can they say that? Nope. tell them to buy American and shut their pie holes!
Just did a poker run last weekend and some Evo's participated. With just a little work those things are just as fast as Terminator Cobra's. Pretty impressive.

Dude, if your gonna get butt hurt everytime a car beats you, then you are gonn be forking out a lot of money.I'm not an import guy, but give some credit to that EVO. Yeah it has a turbo, but a little 2.0l pumping out 300hp is pretty impressive plus it cost hardly anything to make those things faster. Just take what you have (which is pretty nice to begin with) and just walk away. There will always be someone to beat you and that will never change. Or you can go with jjtgiants' idea, which is a damn good one.

wanna smoke the evo... 100hp shot of nitrous and you're there. He can't keep up. Besides... you'll still be driving when his 18lbs of boost catches up to him in engine longevity. Facts are facts... the more he runs it at 18psi WOT against cars that make that kind of power NA the shorter his motor life will be. Holds true for mustangs too... spend enough time in boost and you'll spend some money in new motor cuz they bloody wear out.

I think it was only the late 04's that had that issue, but i do remember hearing that and beign without any mufflers myself ive always wanted to try it. lol.

What if I said I was a better person then you because I have a Mustang with a blower? There will always be another faster car then yours no matter what you do.
Stop worrying about this ****? Get past it. Study, work hard, get a scholarship, and go to a great college. That way you will be able to drive anything you want while those bozos are either still working at a job where a hairnet is part of the uniform, or still living at home.
