Default Stiff Motor Mounts?

Well I just got custom grind stage 2 cams installed not too long ago... Now somtimes the motor rocks side to side so much that the LT on the drivers side hits the floor boards. It mostly happens when I'm coming to a stop. I was wondering if throwing in some poly mounts on the motor and trans would help with this problem or not?

Stiffer mounts will make the car shake more. Maybe you need to tighten up the motor mount bolts. They should be torqued to 110ft. lbs.

I know the whole car in general will shake more but i'm talking the motor only i'm getting tired of having the header flange on the drivers side hit the floor board... did you have any problems like that with your car cause I know you have cams and Mac LT's also

I have Mac LTs with a prochamber non-catted... the driver's side flange hits the floor board... While just sitting there not running the flange on the drivers side is about a quarter of an inch away from the floor as it is so it doens't take much to hit.

I was just seeig if stiffer mounts would help the motor from not shaking as much but I'm going to check the tq on the motor mount nuts just in case see what that will do before i drop 300+ into new poly mounts

Where did you get that torque setting from?? All 3 of my manuals say 15-22ft. lbs.

Sorry, I meant motor mount nuts, not the bolts.

Yeah, I knew what you meant, but still all my books still say 15-22.

Stiffer mounts should help. A cheap and redneck way to do it is to drill through the mount and put a bolt through and tighten it very snug by hand. This way, the rubber on the mount will compress but won't expand as much. Kind of acts like a torque strap.

Haynes manual, Engine mount stud to crossmember nuts- 95- 126.

15-22ft. lbs is not right. Hell, spark plugs get torqued to 14ft lbs.
