How far do you rev the engine before changing gear? Do you go up to 5k rpm? I normally rev to 4k rpm before chaning to the next gear.

Are you talking about normal driving? I mean, for ideal gas mileage, you should shift somewhere close to where going into the next gear doesn't cause the car to bog down. Of course, there are situations where you need/want to speed up faster and thus will take it higher to accomplish this. I would 4K might be a little high just for normal driving. You are definitely pushing that motor harder than it needs to be if you are not racing.

When i had my V6 i shifted just under 3 for normal driving but other than that you need to put the car on a dyno to find out the optimal shift point.

...lol, J/K. We all start somewhere....I think the question has been answered no matter what you originally meant. But shift points will always depend somewhat on time and situation, highway driving or racing, etc. I agree with these guys, under 3K is about right for regular driving though. Racing shift points are definitely going to be something you should figure out on your own depending on your setup.
