if you can afford it, KB's newest blower for the lightning has the intake comearound the side and not over the top. that might fit under a cowl hood without cutting. it's exspensive so i won't be gettign one anytime soon, but i saw it and just thought it was cool

They have it offered for the lightning but not for the navigator engine? What would be the difference, or would it be specific from 2v to 4v?

The Lightning engine was 2V while the Navigator was 4V so the intsake only works w/ 2V heads.

they do make 4v adaptor plates so you can adapt a cobra intake to a navi engine. I also have seen pics of motor by a guy in my area where they used a lightning lower and grafted an adaptor onto a 99 cobra upper. The thing looks really tight and the gigantic plenum has to be a benefit. We're hoping for dyno numbers soon.

the sullivan intake us the best answer for a navi motor. i saw one in a 89 mustang and it ran like crazy for the weekend he had it(till the new owner wrecked it the next day) but for the time and effort if you have a navi motor i'd go with the sullivan intake.

yes the lightning short block will work perfectly. Compression will be a bit low unless you're supercharged. Whatever you need to know we can tell you. Mine is staring install day in the face. I'm hoping for very early 07 at this point. My schedule has lagged a bit with my company selling and such but I'll be snapping axles soon enough.

Hey guys joined this forum JUST for this thread. I am very interested in this swap. I plan on the 5.4 pi swap with a set of rods and pistons. Stock un ported heads with a set of custom cams, and a stock 4.6 intake. I want to run a 150 shot through a semi built 4r70w and drag suspension. This seems like a relatively cheap way to 11s. what does everyone think?

Oh and my only real question which has not been answered after reading ALL 51 PAGES is on a stock k member on the 99-04 gts, will the motor fit under a cobra r hood with little to no cutting?

rico... a cobra R hood should clear no problem. Other than that, sounds like you're doing the same basic build up as a few of us. I'd advise porting your heads if you can swing it but if not... it'll still be a neck snapper if done well.

I figure the nitrous wil give me all the horsepower I need and more than enough torque. The auto would make it more managable.

1.5" adapters? Link? Does that drop the motor?

the adapters are for the head to intake connection. they are 1.5" thick, so u have to accept the intake sitting that much higher then stock.

ohhh man will it ever. start with a moderate shot like 50-80 and work your way up. You'll want to figure out where it starts getting uncontrollable before you get all the way there. Remember, nitrous gives like 20% more tq than it does hp so you'll be flirting with tire spin. I have plans for a 75hp passing shot and a 2nd stage with another 75 or so for demonstrations of axle snapping. By the time you hit a 150 shot you're looking at like 550rwtq or better so parts breakage can become a reality fast. I figure the 2 stage setup gives me the fun factor but reserves the big hits for the drag strip.

The car will be on slicks.

Lets just say this won't be my fastest car.

I figure on a drag setup, 550tq would get me 10s easy, but I want to be conservative and say 11s.

not your fastest car... sweet!

since you're on slicks I don't assume it's destined to spend much time of the street. If that's the case, get as much cam as you can. It'll use it.

I plan on driving it on the street hense the auto. Just not race it much on the street as it will spin quite a bit from a dig.

I see you are from ca. Where did you get the assembly quote on the 5.4?
