Im getting 2 12"alpine type r's for chrismas and i was wondering what your guys opinion would be on the a good amp to power them that wont be to expensive but still good quality. Any help woud be great. thanks fellas

well its all about quality, i would say Rockford Fosgate but they run higher but imo its worth it. but another good Ok brand would be sony but why dont u just get alpine amp yo go w/ ur subs

I heard the Orion 600d mono 1200w amp is a great for the money...has anyone heard anything about it?

 

Get an Alpine V-power amp. One of the best amps made and it's a little cheaper than RF. RF amps are kick *** too but if you want one that is quality and will power those amps, you're lookin' at more than a V-power will cost. Ebay has pretty much every amp ever made and you can buy it NIB if you want and still pay a hell of a lot cheaper than you will from Best Buy or Circuit City. Get a monoblock and just bridge it. Make sure you divide the RMS wattage running from the amp by 2 since you'll be hooking up 2 amps to it. Also pay attention to how many ohms you'll be running the subs at. A lot of people think they're getting 2x the power they actually are.

 

Yea I have 2 Rockford Fosgate p3's and a Rockford fosgate 1200 watt mono amp(Birth Cirtificate tested at 1445 watts). Make sure the amp says it is bridgeable and can be wired down to 1 ohm. Your subs will pound. I have my bass on -4 and with the volume at 14 is about the max after that it just rattles too bad.

 

Kenwood KAC-9102D. I had one set up with two 10" Type-Rs and I took them out because it was WAAAY too much. But with two 12" Type-Rs, I kind of have the feeling that's what you're going for.

Also, the Type-Rs are dual voice coil, so wiring them up can get a little confusing. Make sure you run them at the lowest resistance that your amp can handle.

 

damm u got the p3, shoot the guy told me that the p3 was competion so i got the p2 but it still kicks ***. i wonder waht the T1's are like?

 

let me put it this way. subs r the cheep part any will do fine but... the AMP is the most important. Make a good investment and get the rockfords its well worth the money. my amp was 600 bucks and the subs were 40 for 2.

 

Yea I went with 2 12" p3's..If I remember right I think I payed just a little over 300 for both. my amp was $450 but in stores it sells for double that.

You want to make sure you get good subs too. The rubber mold that holds the cone to the frame can affect the sound quality a lot. Alpines are infamous for their in-and-out rubber molding which allows the cone to move further in and out to get a deeper and louder tone.

 

There a christmas present from my parents so they will never go for the rockford amps. there definatly going to want me to keep it around 250-300 range.
