Default Braking Noise

A strange noise is coming from the front of my car when I brake. The pedal also vibrates a little bit. The sounds is kinda a grinding squeking noise, but not really high pitched. Any ideas? Please help!

always do your own work on your car unless it is beyond your mechanical capability...

check your pads for uneven wear and check the back side of the rotors for gouging/scratching. the pulsing is usually a sign of a slightly warped rotor.

If you can afford them, 1 piece Baer Eradispeed plain faced are almost warp proof. I use em and I have tried in vain to warp them so I can get some 2 piece eradispeeds so they're definitely pretty tough.

I have never had a brake job. The car just hit 11,000 miles. Its only coming from the front left brake too.

Are brakes easy to do?

such simple cake it's a wonder midas stays in business. Check to make sure the lugs are tight on that wheel before you do anything to fix the brakes.. that's sometimes an issue especially with aluminum wheels.

if it's just that side then get the rotor checked for warpage and replace as needed.

I do all 4 wheels on my car with new pads and rotors in about an hour. Less is the rotors don't have to come off for turning. Remember...you don't have to pull the caliper mounting bracket... just the floating caliper. Takes about 5 minutes a side plus jacking and wheel mount/dismount time.
