I have pics somewhere of 285's on a 10.5" wide rim before I upgraded to 315's. Would that help?

i would think that a 285 would be too small for a 10.5" wide rim...something more like a 295, 305, or 315 would be better

if i were you..go w/ a 245 in the front and 275 or 285 in the back...the size difference will give you more of a fatty rear and a skinny front..

here's 285/40 on 17x10.5 rims

285s will work on 10.5s, they just don't bulge out like 295s or 315s. I have a friend that has 285/40 GSD3s on his 17x9 cobra rims all around, looks pretty cool:

im keeping the cobra's with the drag radials on during spring and summer, the when fall is comming to an end slapping on my snow tires which will be on my 2 of my stock rims for the read, and 2 all seasons in the front. so if weather gets really bad in summer i can alwasy swap out the rear dr's and put the stock rims with the all seasons on

Mine in the rear are BFGs Comp TA's 285s-17s on a 9.5 inch rim and fit perfect, front are stock Eagles 245s, not a good pic but gives you an idea;
