If you want to do everything the correct way... painting jams, etc... you're looking at well over 5 grand.

Its not cheap, 5 grand is high But not unreasonable, Its amazing the quality you get from the factory. If you do a lot of prep yourself, $1500-$2000 can be done. Do not think Maacos $199 will make u happy.

I remember taking a 1982 Capri, i put a 351 in back in 1985 I was 18 to Earl Shieb, If you dont know him he used to have ads on the east coast saying "ill paint any car for $99.99" I put down the Plus the $35 to Mask the windows. No kidding they will paint the glass if you dont pay. The painted the top sidewalls of my tires. It was primer when i took it in. And they just paint. If theres a clump of dirt on the rear Quarters, They would paint over it. Dam if it wasnt the Blackest Black you ever seen, And it looked sharp for 2 weeks. I washed it at the local carwash and Put lines all in the paint job from the brush. And that winter, all the paint Popped and cracked off the urethane bumpers. But yes i got my $99 worth

Where ever you go, check the shop out. All paint jobs look pretty good when they are first done.

Cheapest ive paid for Paint since was $1200 to a good friend.

Yea, if youve ever had a car painted, which I am assuming you havent, such as if you get in a wreck, then you will see that the materials arent what costs the money. Its the labor they charge you. Id expect that for a color like the two that you mentioned, you are looking at anything from 4-6 grand all said and done...sounds like a forged block to me...or heck, a down payment on a 03 sonic blue cobra. ( Which is what Ive decided to save for)

If you live in the houston area, my sponsor will paint your car, EVERYTHING that is, for around 2500 and also add any flames or anything you want too, he does very good custom work, and you can get just about any pearl, or what not custom color you want.

Seeing that you are not 100% happy with your Saleen lets do a trade :laughing7 . I will even make it fair and do the trade after the Cobra block swap. When I painted my old SVO I removed all lights Saleen wheels and anything else that I did not want overspray on. I did not remove moldings as that year it was flat black so I just painted those myself when I got the car back. If you can remove most if not all of the moldings this would be the best way to reduce prep work for the shop but you will have to talk it over with shop. Most shops do a good paint job but lousy prep work. Pay extra for another layer of clear my SVO always looked like it was wet.

Yea, its all about the prep work. If you take your time, and do most of it yourself, you will spend a lot less money. But about the Chromillusion, expect to pay a TON of money for that paint. High dollar stuff you are talking now...
