Is there a Metra harness to work with the Mach 1000? or do I have to replace everything?

Im sure theres a/couple harness you need but I dont know the part number for mach 1000. Get on www.partsexpress.com and see if they have a search for the products for your vehicle.

The alpine harness and the metra harnesses have color coated wires. Connect each color/stripe combo to the other matching one. If one doesnt have a match, its not used. RCAs plug into the rcas in the back of the deck. Its easy unless you are colorblind. However I would trust those idiots at best buy.

I meant how do you connect those two metra harnesses at the same time, because those plugs look exactly the same /shrug

They both plug into your factory ford harness. Id take a picture but I really dont feel like ripping my dash apart so you can see some wires. If you dont know what you are doing, have someone that does, do it.

Youll be able to tell when its right. If it sounds like complete crap, its wrong.

it doesn't really sound like crap, just kinda muffled.

on another note.. you can't directly adjust the bass on the head unit, i'd like to turn it down cuz it sounds a lot louder.. but is that soemthing you have to control with that i-personalize software?

Got my harness today (70-5521) and installed my new Pioneer DEH-P80MP...all I can say is WOW...what a difference!!!! It sounds 100 times better than stock and it'll crank a lot louder without distortion than the stocker would.

This is a pic of the harness I ordered...

This is what the back of my '04 stock deck looked like...

This is the new deck installed...

I think I'm going to order that 70-5521 and see what happens, it should work even better because it's for 03-05, and the 70-5519 is for 01's

I still can't figure out how you got the 5519 to even FIT. The only thing I can think of is a change in decks from '03 to '04...either that or the 5519 I got was just the wrong one...but I don't see how the 5521 and 5519 could BOTH fit on the same deck, the plugs are completely different. If the 5519 fits yours, I don't think the 5521 will fit at all...Damn Ford and their need to change every little thing each year!!!

I couldn't tell you because I didn't install it, but I was right there when the guy did and he didn't say anything about that. From what I understand the 2001 Mach460 head unit was not the one that was in two different pieces.. I've seen pics where it's just the one head unit, but it's still not like the one in the 03-04s. ours should be the same. I'm going to try to find that part locally tomorrow and I'll get it installed and let you know! I'd post some pics but I sold my old camera and my new one isn't gonna be here until the 26th

After looking at my head unit.. you're right, I'm missing that long plug that's needed. WTF. I don't understand that, the part is suppose to be for 2003 up.

Ok, so I called Metra (the company who makes the aftermarket harness) and they said I had the right part (70-5519). It just sounded bad because of the settings on the head unit. There was too much bass going to the mid and high speakers making it sound bad and making the tweeters rattle. After playing with the settings all is well again!

So the lesson we've learned today.. 01-03 should use 70-5519, 04's should be using 70-5521!

Glad ya got it all straightened out! I haven't had a chance to sit down and fine tune mine yet, but it already sounds better than the stock unit. Why Ford would change the deck from 03 to 04 with a whole new car coming out for 05 is just wierd...

I told you in one of my first replys that you need to adjust the first 3 crossover slopes all the way to the bottom which is -8dB, IIRC.

Ok, I've been following this thread and I want to make sure that I'm right on this so please bear with me. I have a 2002 GT with the Mach 460 6 cd indash cd player. I want to put in the Kenwood DDX-7017 Double Din indash dvd player. In order to do this I need the 2 metra harnesses 70-1771 and 70-5519? I've been looking all over the net for information on this and this is the only place I've found with people who have replaced just the headunits in their mach 460 systems. Please help me ^_^

the 70-5519 harness is the squre part with all the color wires and then 2 rca plugs

the 70-1771 harness is just the part with all the color wires and no rcas.

I dunno if that helps you or not

hehe, not really but any help is appriciated, I'm just really wondering if the 01 mach 460 radio is the same as the 02, because it seems ford likes to change things up when ever they feel like it.

I think the 01-03 is the same because the packaging for the harness I used (5519) said it was for 01's.. didn't even mention 02's or 03's. and metra said it was the one to use on 03's
