Default Help! Lots of Questions and Ideas

I have a Silver '99 GT and had some ideas for the exterior.

First, would be removing the spoiler, has anyone here done this? any problems?

Second, Removing the 35th Ann. Badges on the sides. Is there pin holes? if so would a GT badge fit the same holes?

Third, thought about removing the fog lights. Bad Idea? hard to do?

Fourth, my 3rd brake light, aswell as some of yours im sure; is fadded and looks scratched. Would wet sanding (like mothers headlight restoring) help? Would tinting it with paint or a tint cover help and work?

I have some more questions/ideas, but ill let this work for now.

All opinons and advice is welcome.
Thanks in advanced!

Pics below.

Spoiler: not hard but would need to fill holes in once removed.
Badges: most likely they would fit but I'm not 100% sure.
Fogs wouldn't be hard just trace back the wires but you would just have empty holes in your bumper lol.
Third brake light I tried to do the same by wet sanding and I tried some plastx by meguiars and it helped but its not perfect so I'm gonna try the tint film from AM for like 10$ to cover it up.

No problem as long as you fill the holes. There are four bolts covered by rubber grommets that are all that need to be removed to take the spoiler off. Oh and you may have to do some wet sanding and/or polishing to clean up beneath where the spoiler was.

not too sure on this one

Third, thought about removing the fog lights. Bad Idea? hard to do?
wouldn't be difficult but it will look more like a v6 without them

you can restore it by wet sanding and polishing just like headlights. I would restore them before moving on to tint

I have some more questions/ideas, but ill let this work for now.

p.s. I can upload pics of anything wanted of the car.
Now about those pics

Posted pics above^

Thanks for the help guys.

For the spolier i definatly want to do, unless its really dirty underneth.
Badges I would take off, or replace with GTs.
I didnt think about it looking more like a V6 with out the fogs.

Now time to wet sand the 3rd Brake light, and see how bad it is under the spoiler.
Ill post pics of both aswell.

Leave the badges. You ACTUALLY have a 35th and the GT badges look more dumb than the 35th ones. Yes, there are holes behind the them but like I said dont remove them.

Fix your hood stripe.

Get ready to do some serious cleaning on the trunk deck after you remove the spoiler. Most people cheap out and buy plastic plugs from home depot and use touch up paint to get them to match the exterior color.

I removed my fog lights and people always thought my car was a v6 because of it. If you are ready to answer those sorts of questions then go for it. I removed mine because the lenses were cracked.

Third brake light. Probably wouldnt hurt to use the mothers kit. Dont know why you havent tried it in the first place.

Fix your hood stripe.

What would be the best way to fix the hood stripe?

I tried to wet sand the 3rd Brake Light. No luck. Guess I need to tint it. Spray tint, or actually tint strips?

However the spoiler delete came out great, and for just $17.

Nice I like it without a spoiler. I really like the rocker panels too.

As for tinting the third brake light I don't think tint will adhere to it if it isn't REALLY smooth. You are probably going to have to spray it or replace it.

As for the hood stripe, I would remove it all together. You can remove it with goo gone or goof off and a PLASTIC putty scraper or old credit card. just test the goo gone/goof off in an inconspicuous spot like a door jam or under the hood just to make sure it doesn't effect your paint.

Thanks guys.

I tried Mothers, so its smooth; just not better looking. Guess I will try the tint strip for now.
As for the hood, I don't know if I could get all the stripe off. Is the Goo stuff legit?

I would've probably left the spoiler because its the 01 and up version, your side scoops are too. Should you decide to put it back on paint it black.

I wouldnt bother the foglights, I wish my v6 had them.

Nice lookin car dude!

The Goo gone is legit I used it get rid of my pinstripes all the way down both sides of my car. It takes some time but it works. Just remember to test on a small spot to be on the safe side.

I have not used the Goo Gone yet. I started to peel off the hood stripe, then it started raining. Will continue tomarrow. Fingers hurt lol. Any tips for taking it off, besides by hand. Hair dryer?

Its common to use steamers to remove tint and decals are similar to tint. I'm not sure what a steamer would do to paint though.

Ha, I just noticed you're in Riverview. You are only about 45 North of me.

Not this 01+ scoop crap again. Dude has a 35th anniversary edition. So it came with different side scoops a hood scoop and different rocker panels. The interior has some different stuff as well. However, they included these parts on the 01+ Mustangs.

Everything is as it was from the factory, besides the antenna and spoiler delete.

I didn't know that about the 35th Anni. editions. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Finshed taking off the hood stripe. Hair dryer made it 1000x easier.
I also removed the Gary Smith Ford badge from above the drivers side taillight.

What do you guys think?

Getting there mate.

As far as the emblem thing goes. You can`t win there. I`ve tried 3 or 4 different emblems and like none of them so far.

I have a plan for my hood scoop but I`ll do a wee bit more research first before I start butchering my hood.

Chin spoiler should be here today.
I have seen the install video on Youtube, but is there any thing I should be aware of?
Also, If my car has not been lowered, would I still need it jacked up?

Thanks.

Yeah one reason why I havent re-fastened mine with bolts on there instead of the push pins, I need to go and buy some bolts and re-mount it again so its a bit more secure since the 1 side is kinda drooping some since leaving a gas and nailing the dip some!
