Default Need some help

'98 Ford mustang .. stock system.

I wanna replace factory speakers and head unit, how can I tell if I have a premium audio system or not? Basically just looking for if there is a amp installed. I do not have the MACH system.

If it doesn't say mach, then its just the basic system.

So I am safe to say there is no AMP hidden inside?

If I install a new head unit, would u suggest component speakers or just stay with the same style thats installed now? Also buying an AMP, good idea or bad just to power those speakers?

Its a Convertible.

Component sets are quite a bit better than coaxial speakers. Getting a dedicated amp just to run the speakers will get you much cleaner power than if you use the HU's internal amp. Just don't crank the gain all the way up as a means to get more volume. The higher you set the gain the more distortion you will send to the speakers which will sound like crap and could potentially damage the speakers.
