Yes, we have two pairs of 6x8" speakers. Two up front in the doors, and two in the back on top of the rear seat. I would go with Alpine personally as I'm an avid fan, but you definitely can't go wrong with Infinity speakers, especially the Kappa line! Where abouts are you going to mount the tweeter?

I haven't heard anything truly sound-related to a Mustang; I think most people are more concerned about the power. Myself, I like to have decent, clean sound, too.
The only place I could think of to place the tweeters would be in the side mirror or up on the dash. My friend has a 99' Eclipse and his Infinity tweeters are up in the dash and it sounds pretty good.
Just curious, where do you plan on going with the system? Just components up front and full range in the rear? Sub? Amp?

6x8 fit your car perfectly you can go a little bigger though, also might be a haste to install if ur gonna use the stock wiring that's a problem i ran into so i had them re wired
and also for your tweeters you no where your wind shield goes up where some peopel install gauges there you can buy some with tweeter inserts for i think it was 40 bucks for the pair im gonna be investing in them soon for my sweet system i got now

The tweets go best near your A-pillar, right where the windshield meets the door and side window. But idk how you can mount them, I've only seen custom enclosures or modded systems from the Mach system in the Cobras.

I agree, Infinity has never been my favorite. Alpine is by far at the top of the list. As far as installing tweeters goes, that's what I've been wondering about. He would either have to cut out the interior side of the side mirror or get the part out of a Mach system, wouldn't he? Would the actual stock piece be deep enough to hold a tweeter?
This is a very interesting read. Crutchfield FTMFW: http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/lea...ion_guide.html

I replaced my speakers with kickers and couldn't be happier. They sound awesome. As for full range speakers in the rear, or the door panel for that matter, If you're gonna use the Mach amps and whatnot, then they will only play mids and lows. And if he's ordering from crutchfield, factory wiring won't be an issue as they provide harness adapters.

i actually got them from my friends work website they get all discounted prices i got 2 pairs for 130$, saved a shitload of money, but he knows alot about the tweeters and harnesses so he's gunna help me out alot. but i might run a single sub in the trunk as well, havent decided yet, i dont want to much bass but a little is pretty nice. still up in the air tho

I have two P'3 12 inch rockford subs in my car with a 2200 watt amp and a pioneer cd player. its a bit much but it hits hard. but if you want just a little bump I would go with a 10 inch kicker or a p1 10 inch rockford. that way you won't sound like a bunch of cans are in your trunk.
