Advice to a noob to the board
Have a 2001 GT convertible I absolutely love. Looking to upgrade the sound system.
Have the Mach 460 from factory. Would like opinions on head units that will work with I Phone 3G to play music and have functional bluetooth for hands free talking.
I've searched Alpine, JVC, Pioneer etc and I'm not finding a consensus that ANYTHING will work reliably with the I Phone. Has anyone here had success with a nice system that is compatible with I Phone 3G?
Thanks

Want a truthful answer?
No.
Apple made their product such a hassle to work with that the iPhone will not work consistently with anything and that is straight from Crutchfield.
My suggestion is to get something that will work with either USB or get another iPod and use it just for music.

I have a pioneer that works with my ipod through USB. not sure if it works with the iPhone. There is also a Pioneer that can turn your car speakers into a Handsfree phone with the help of Bluetooth.

I just put one of those cassettes into my deck then it has a cord with a male that plug into my ipod and it works really good, better than fm transmitters imo because theres no fuzzy at all. really clear and costs about $4 to get it =]

Even the decks that have the specific iPod connectors don't work well with iPhones? That sucks. My Kenwood deck is quite nice, but if there are problems with iPhone/touch connections then do what other people said and go with a deck that has the aux connection thats like a headphone jack.

Well I'm going to try this
Just bought the Pioneer DEH P710BT from Crutchfield. Word on the street is that IPhone works fine with this and it is got a sweet bluetooth setup for hands free calling and receiving calls.
I'll let you know when I get the unit and set it up if it truly works well with I Phone. If not I'll have to use my old I Pod which I'd rather not do.
