tint vs. spray on?
Ok, i ordered the honeycomb taillights off ebay a few weeks ago, i tried to put them on thinking im somekind of genius and screwed it all up, bubbles, rips, you name it.So thats out of the idea now. I've got to do something with my taillights! Since my car is black im going to smoke them. I dont want to spend $130 on new ones so i decided to either use spray on or pre cut tint. Which is better? And which will last longer? I am going to have a bodyshop install them this time If i buy tint would i be fine getting it off ebay for like $15 or buy it from somewhere like stangmods?
Thanks

The nightshades tint for lights doesn't shine, it's flat. So if you go that route, make sure you wetsand them and clearcoat them.
I took mine into the bodyshop, and had them put some black tint in clearcoat, and spray them, and they look a lot better than nightshades. And it only cost me $40.

Close enough. They use black tinting agent that they use to mix paint at the bodyshop. If you've ever been to Lowes or Home Depot to get house paint, kind of the same thing. They have the different tints that they put into a base to get the color you want. That tint, but for automotive paint, is what they use, not just black paint out of a can somewhere.

probably the exact same thing just overpriced at stang mods i got my vinyl tint overlays from american muscle for 50 bucks comes with the 3rd brake light as well, and why pay some one to do it? its not very difficult just soapy water and a squeegy to install and some patience to work the bubbles out but i did mine in like an hour and they look great also helps if you use a hair dryer

I got a set of the ebay tints and installed them in about an hour also. I am very happy with them so far. This is the exact set I got http://cgi.ebay.com/FORD-MUSTANG-TAI...item27acb727ba just get a bottle of water with a small amount of soap and go at it. Do it in the sun as the tints do need to stretch and the sun light will soften them up.

Yeah i've been looking at that exact set myself. Thanks alot for the pics. That sealed my decision. Ordering now. One question tho, in the listing on ebay it shows like cut outs in the tint for the reverse light. Did the actual tint have those?

yeah bud you can do it just take ur time i know i got frustrated at the bubbles but like stated above do it in the sunlight and just use soap and water to spray down real good make sure to clean the tail lights very good as well before hand

They aren't that hard to install just be patient with them. Mix just enough dish soap into a spray bottle to make suds when sprayed and use lots of it. You can use it to clean the lights before you install the tints. I used a mini california water blade (mini squeegee) to remove the excess water mix. Just be prepared to peel back sections respray and stretch it to fit since they don't just fall into place. They weren't hard to install just took a little longer than I had expected. You might want to throw a quick cote of wax on the bumper afterward since the dish soap will strip any old wax off. I hope this helps.

Not yet. Some areas are better than others. Florida seems pretty relaxed toward vehicle mods.

Well its raining outside and is going to for the next few days so i installed them inside in my kitchen.I cleaned the taillights up, then sprayed them with the soap/water mix. The install when very easy. Only one wrinkled and that was the corner one, but fixed it easy. I used my finger and a paper towel as a squeege(didnt have a squeege) To stretch them i let them dry for about a minute or two and then used a blowdryer on them. It seemed to work and theyve been done for about 4 hours and no wrinkles, bubbles, or anything. I just have to say thanks for showing me these. I hope they last for a while.

They look great man! I have had mine through a touch free car wash a few weeks after I installed them and they didn't come off. If a few tiny bubbles appear after a few days in the sun don't sweat it just get a wet cloth and work them out, this happened with mine and after working them out once they have been great.
