Swaping side scoops?

I currently have these: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/musta...tang-gt-03.jpg

I currently want these: http://images04.olx.com/ui/2/22/56/f_17431656_6.jpeg

How, if so, can I swap them?

wildride02gt 10-17-2009 12:09 PM

yes, they are easily swappable. did it myself in the garage, took about 20 min.

I think the V6 scoops look better.

White04GT 10-17-2009 12:20 PM

I believe they are just held in by clips. Should be an easy fast swap.

get new clips, they usually break when you pull the scoop off. and dear lord, why do you want saddlebags? Get the Bullit scoops.. they look so much cleaner.

r3dn3ck 10-18-2009 10:08 AM

pull the rear seat and interior trim panels out completely. You'll see the access panels to the scoops behind the first layer of sheet metal inside a bigass pocket. It's stupid easy to pull them out but DO NOT break the clips.

How hard it is to pull out all of the paneling and what not? I've taken out the rear seat, the ass part, but I've never messed with the paneling.

r3dn3ck 10-18-2009 10:16 AM

stupid retarded easy. pull the seats, pull the side bits next to the package tray, pull the side panels under the rear side windows. The hangar hook in the back has a screw hidden inside it. I highly recommend an electric screwdriver for those. They're kinda long.

Brontobyte 10-18-2009 10:33 AM

All right. Thanks.

Since I recently had my rims painted black, I'm considering doing black side scoops with a black spoiler, eventually.

krazypony 10-19-2009 09:36 AM

dont do the side panels black, it will be over kill!

rkaz 10-19-2009 12:19 PM

I would like to swap out mine someday. I think the gt side scoops look dumb and the 6's look better.

krazypony 10-19-2009 12:27 PM

If I were to swap them out, I would get the Bullitt flat smooth scoops

I don't think they look nice. I like the saddlebag looking ones.

Wombozi17 10-19-2009 03:28 PM

I hope we dont get too many "i messed up my interior" threads after this HAHAHAH.

... But really you can just pry those suckers off with your hands.

Yeah. lol I don't really like playing bus driver anyways. Usually only one passenger, but who knows. If there's ever a car full of sexy stranded ladies, I want to be ready. hahahaha

Um, I seen one at a junkyard with the scoops taken off, they have like cream colored rectangular clip thingies on them. I don't know how I would pry them off. I thought that they would just slide over the right and left side of the actual scoop, but I'm not sure.

What a co-inky-dink... I'm looking for your "ugly" GT side scoops and a GT hood scoop. :) I have the V6 side scoops.

Wombozi17 10-19-2009 07:41 PM

Okay. dont tear apart your interior to take off your scoops. that is what i was trying to say.

Then how would you take them off from the outside? I should just go to a junkyard and try to take off one of the V6 side scoops and see what happens. lol

krazypony 10-20-2009 09:28 AM

this is getting ugly here...I cant wait to see the halloween looking vehicles when they are done getting mutilated!

I'm tryn to get the old lady to buy me the bullitt scoops, if she do then I'll let you know like tomarrow. As for the hood scoop that stays til I get the cobra hood.

Wombozi17 10-20-2009 07:59 PM

You pry them off with your hands. If you really need to, lift them up with the edge of a screwdriver GENTLY. It takes alot of force, but the tabs / clips will give way and the scoop will come off. You might need to buy new tabs to mount the new scoops from a ford dealer if you damage them too much. They are made to stay on nice and tight so they dont fall off under high wind resistance, so it will take a good pullin to get them off.

Once they are off, (or if you have replacements ready to be put on) you will see exactly how they work. No need to take apart your interior. It was just a joke.

Good luck.

Hmmm... what does V6 scoops look like without the black insert in them? that would look very similar to the bullitt scoops I THINK im not sure.. NOW im wanting to do my scoops bullitt style. If theres holes or anything surely i could do it with some bondo or filler and smoothen it out then paint over. BUT sidescoops turn out odd colors because of their material.. AAny info?

Deathdiesel 10-20-2009 08:52 PM

I need to find some replacements black honeycomb things for my side scoops, they are all faded and dusty. Dam things are near impossible to keep nice.

if you're gonna go thru the trouble of bondo and all that, just take the scoops off and fill in the holes on the body. the v6 scoops look horrible with no insert
