That is called 'ambient lighting' and I believe it wasn't available for our cars until 2008. It is used in conjunction with the MyColor. I don't think there is any way for us to have it in our cars unless we switch out the entire center console, if that can even be done.

* It became available for the 2009's (my friends with 2008's don't have it)

the floor board ambient lighting could probably be modded on cars that didn't come with it installed. It consists of one LED under the steering column shield, one under the glove box, and one on either side of the back of the middle console aimed at the back floor board. The glowing cup holder trim would probably require special parts but the other pieces should be pretty simple

No, it did start in 2008. If your friends with '08's don't have it, they just might not have that option in their cars.

Here is a video of ambient lighting on an '08 Mustang. I didn't know it was on the floorboard, too.

Widow, looks like there is an option to add it with a kit.

$274 and shitload of work for ambient lighting? I mean I love having my dials and floorboard both illuminated but I wouldn't pay that much for it..

and I didn't know it was an option on '08 my bad maybe it comes with the pony package? I don't remember seeing it on any options list though so I just assumed it was stock

Nope. It comes stock on pretty much most of them. Mine didn't have the gay pony package, but it has ambient lighting. I think it may come on only GT's so maybe your friends won't have it if they have a V6. I've never met anyone with it in a V6, nor seen one at the dealership.

I meant in an 08.

I know the with the 09 it was just another option. Like the glassback roof. Not part of a package.

My moms got a 08 gt/cs she has it. It's pretty cool you can go from color to color. I think there's about 8 or so colors. It also lights up the floorboard.

It would be cheaper to do what I did. I bought some LED 12in tubes and some LED singles and so far I've hard wired the tubes under the dash on both sides and I'm not sure where I want the singles but you can do air vents, speaker grills, pretty much anywhere just make sure you hide the ugly wiring.

Default LIGHT IN THE NIGHT!

I really do not have any use for this feature, but my 2008 Bullitt has this option. I prefer a dark cabin at night!!!

If you have a 4 guage dash you can easily upgrade to the 6 guage My Color dash in 05-09 stangs. It's about a 15 minute job but you will either have to pay Ford to flash the odometer for you or else take the mileage count that's on the guage. I found one at Autoanything for $199. You have to buy the dash control unit from Ford though, that ran about $70. For about $269 I got all the fancy dash colors which was coll but I really wanted the info computer that comes with the 6 guage cluster. I don't know about the other ambient lighting stuff but I know the 2010s have a cool indiglow feature on the door sill panel. It lights up the MUSTANG letters... super cool.
