Default Mustang stereo deck

Okay, to start off, I have the double stereo setup in my '99 stang. It looks like this. I want to put in one of these. Now, I would need to remove both the tape deck and the cd deck to fit it int there. Would I need to buy one of these types of bezel's for it? Would it fit? Anyone every try this? Is there a special kit for this?

This post should be in the Show Shine and Tunes forum. The first link showing what your (stock?) stereo looks like doesn't work. The second is unclear what type of stereo it is (single or double din?) So it's hard to give advise other than not to buy your stereo equiptment at Walmart. Check out this site for better quality and prices. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i...ead-units.html It has options so it will only show what will fit in your car, and once you pick the reciever the intstal kit is free or at least discounted.

I have a 2000 GT that had the two single din units. I was able to do a little modification and put in a double din dvd head unit in mine. All it really takes is removing the old stuff, remove the trim around the deck, cut the two plastic tabs (you'll see which ones), then you'll need to get the plastic trim piece from a later model with the double din unit. It's actually fairly simple once you start working on it. also, I wouldn't get a deck from walmart. My Kenwood was only like $400-500

Okay thanks. The first picture is a double din setup while the second one is a single din setup. I'm not buying anything from walmart, I just googled a picture of an lcd screen and it came up.

This is a totally off topic post, but I couldn't have one of those CD players with the screen. Every time Phil Anselmo, Layne Staley, or Thom Yorke came on there, I'd ******* wreck the ever-living **** out of my car.

haha, I haven't watched a video on mine for awhile, but I have to say it's no more distracting then turning your head to check out a hot chick in the car next to you. Or guy for your sake. hahaha. Its nice for a long trip to just be able to listen to a funny movie or put in a live DVD like killswitch.

What did you put in to replace the "Fog" "Abs" "Rear Defroster" buttons? Nothing?

You can buy the blanking plugs that fit there. Since I have a 2000 the fogs and defroster button are in different places. THe other button is for traction control which my car and your car do not have, nor need.

I think I'm just going to go with a stock Mach 460 deck. I found one for $50 and I need to buy the trim. It's $115 from Ford, and the junkyards don't have it. I'm going to try Autozone or something else.

What's the difference between the Mach 460 deck and the Mach 1000 deck?

Sorry for double post, I wanted this to get bumped...

Anyways, I was wondering if this would work with the wiring to my '99 double DIN setup. It's from an '02 GT.

I'm not sure if the wiring is the same or not. I would think it would be. And as fara s the trim piece goes, you're not going to be able to find one anywhere. It's a Ford piece, so you might as well pay the price for it otherwise you will have to custom make one which will cost you more.

How many modifications would I need to make the Mach 460 deck work with my wiring for the stock two double DIN decks? Would it just be adapters or do I need to rewire my whole car?

Pull your deck and see how many harnesses it has running to it and compare that with the double din deck. You will still need the newer trim piece for it to work.

I have the same model screen as 00blkstanggt and all I did was run down to the local audio store to pick up a different harness so that I didn't lose the buttons.

I do. I kept the 6-cd changer too so that whenever I decide to leave the mach I can still have my deck. I really love it. I use it whenever I'm in the car. I just hook up my iPod and away we go. I never really watch movies on it being that I don't ever travel long enough distances to need to, but it's a cool feature anyway. If I were to rate the deck on performance, quality and looks I'd seriously give it a 10 out of 10 in every catagory.

Yeah I haven't watched any movies on it in awhile either. Nothings better though then being able to plug in your iPod and instantly have all your music and whatever movies you want at your disposal. I just need a bigger iPod. Plus it's cool how you can change the lights on the deck.

Yeah, except I ended up just leaving mine on Yellow to go with the theme. For the longest time I had it on Hue Rotation and at night I swear it's about got me killed a couple of times. Granted I do have the brightness on those cranked. So...
