Wondering how it would look if i blacked out my lights???
Want to do some cheap appearance mods... wondering how my car would look with blacked out headlights, fog lights, and tail lights.... Not sure cuz my rims have the chrome lip

IMO, I like the blackout look. I have chrome rims but everything else is blacked out but I have chrome accents everywhere. (for example - grill pony, 40th anniv. badges, chrome pipes, etc) so I like the way mine looks. I love blackouts on black cars. I think it would make your wheels stand out more.

i hear blacking out the headlights is a bad idea, it makes it suck at night, just get some smoked aftermarket ones or get some covers that u can remove if u are driving at night. tail lights i agree blackout.

Yea ive heard that it makes really hard to see at night with blacked out, smoked i heard are good at night and look clean. If you do black em out get brighter bulbs or somethin.

I took my headlight and taillight covers off just because of insurance reasons. If you get rear ended and have smoked/blackout tail lights, it's almost always going to be considered your fault.

The covers i plain on getting are removable and I only plan on leaving them one during the day...... I may forget to take them off sometimes at night so I plan on getting the brightest bulbs possible...

Even with HIDs, I couldn't tell a difference with my headlight covers. Unless you plan on getting stadium bulbs in your headlights, don't expect to see anything. Get the smoked clear headlights instead.

i checked out the smoked lights and i'm not totally sold on them.. i just have my mind set on everything being very dark

Yeah, I don't know why you would want something any darker than that. Especially after what everyone's telling you. I wish I would have asked how bad it was before I bought my blackout covers.
Here's how dark mine were:

I'm hard headed... but i still think i would rather have the headlight covers

Honestly, it took me awhile to get used to seeing at night with mine. I have adjusted and can see fine now. It was a bitch at first. I am seriously thinking about ordering the AM smoked lights instead. My tails are spray tinted and you can see my brake lights perfectly fine during the day.

I had the headlights, fogs, and tails on my car blacked out and gave that **** up for several reasons.
1) I could not get the headlight covers to fit for the life of me. They would not stay down when I closed the hood. I even tried velcro and it wouldn't work. I sent those bitches right back.
2) The foglight covers were not as dark as the headlight covers, so it clashed.
3) The tail light covers wouldn't stay on, either. There is a tab that has velcro on it that attaches underneath the trunk. The velcro always came undone. Not only that, but they never laid flush with my lights and you could always see a little red sticking through.
4) I did not want to be responsible for someone rear-ending me with the tail light covers on.
I love the contrast of my wheels with my headlights and fog lights and the red tails with the panel on my trunklid, so I'm glad I got over that whole 'blackout' thing.

The only ones that just 'snapped on' for me were the fog covers. The headlight covers were 'snap on' but didn't fit worth a damn.
