Default Sequential Taillights; User Servicable By Any Chance?

Hey all, I bought these http://www.americanmuscle.com/cdc-dynamite-sticks.html from AM just over a year ago. About 2-3 weeks ago, the harness on the drivers side started mal-functioning. When using the turn signal or emergency flasher, only the inner light will light up. When applying the brakes, the inner light will light immeadiately like it should, but it takes about 2 seconds for the middle light to light up, and then another 2 seconds for the outer light to light up. The parking light function works all three, as it should. I checked to verify all bulbs work. I also checked against the cars electrics by replacing the harness with the original factory harness, and with the original in place all functions were normal. I also checked by switching the harnesses, (drivers side to passengers side : passengers side to drivers side) and whether the bad harness was on the drivers side or passengers side, it still did not work properly.

I sent the manufacturer (Stack Racing) an email explaining this, and asking about the possibility of getting a replacement harness. I was optimistic because of this paragraph from their "About Us" link on their website; "Our growing influence is not only due to our infatuation with all things Mustang, but our outstanding customer service. Consider our broad, customer-comes-first return policy. Or the fact that we install the parts ourselves to insure quality fit and finish before they get to your pony. What it comes down to is the fact that at StackRacing, the customer is our #1 priority."

But their reply was "Go back to the vendor". Oh well.

Anyways, I wanted to see if anyone here may have some help or advice to offer on trying to fix it myself.

You are lucky you got those sorry things to work for that long. I had those Stack Racing ones in for literally 3 days before they failed. I installed them on a Saturday, they worked fine that day and that night, parked the car when I got home, didn't drive at all on Sunday, took the car to work Monday morning and when I went to show my friends, only the innermost light on the driver side was working, but the passenger side was fine. I went home, basically did all the things you did to troubleshoot, and I couldn't figure it out. I eventually gave up and put my stock harnesses in, my lights worked beautifully again and I and got a refund.

I have thought about getting another set of sequentials, but I'd go with another brand. My advice to you is to throw those sorry things in the garbage, put your stock ones back in, and go get the actual CDC ones.

I find it both funny and not-so-funny that it was only the innermost light on the drivers side that worked, as that is exactly how mine ended up.

Things that make you go Hmmmm.....

My sequentials work fine. I did however, have a bad kit at first and got another resent from AM. Call AM and tell them what happened. Nick will work it out for you. Honestly it's probably the shipping, because my box was all f***ed up when I got it and had moisture in it from the stupid delivery guy putting it in the snow outside my garage (not the front door like he should have) and the one side didn't work at all.

My buddy bought the CDCs and had the same problem......it's just electronics IMO.....

I wonder if this is only apparent in the new model mustangs. I was thinking of getting them for my model.

Only the S197's seem to have this problem. The kits for your body style are splice-in so only you can screw it up lol.
