Default Painting or Buying valve covers....

Wasn't sure what section to put this into, so MODs if this is in the wrong place don't hesitate to move it. Anyway,

underneath my hood is lacking something. I'm not interested in any performance additives right now as I'm a nice law abiding citizen (as mentioned in another post), and can't afford any speeding tickets at the moment. But I am interested in either purchasing replacement valve covers that are yellow (it would look cool), or how I would go about painting my current ones. I'm more interested in purchasing new ones just so that if for whatever reason I would like to go back to what I have in there currently (stock 2004 non-polished covers), I can.

If anyone knows if anyone has any Mach 1 4v valve covers for sale that are either pre-painted or just plain cheap and not low quality, let me know.

And if you guys could just list steps to painting the current valve covers too just in case, that'd be cool too.

As you can see, the valve covers are stock and don't really look top notch. I also need another rubber boot that connects from the CAI to throttle body. As you can see in the picture, it's rubbing with my hood liner, and I'd like to make that look a little cleaner.

No luck on Ebay yet. I think I might be asking much to find them in yellow. I've seen it once, can't remember where though. It's killing me because it's something I'd like before I leave for the holidays on the 21st of Dec.

Yea, well good luck man. If you dont find them yellow, like you said you can always paint them yellow or even fiberglass them. If you have to look up like cjponyparts.com or 5.0resto.com and see how much they are to order a new pair of them. It might not be too high and might be your best bet.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm just worried that I'll paint them wrong if I try it though. Like all of the other painting noobs, I'm worried about f'ing it up.

well aslong as you get the extra pair you can always keep the originals on there. If your really worried about it, go have it done. call some body shops and see what something like that would charge, that or take it to an airbrush guy and see if they would do it for you. Otherwise if you di it yourself it could be a learning experience and I'm sure you wouldnt do too bad, atleast it would be your own. Also, I know you want them painted yellow, but what if you just wrote like Mach 1 in yellow on there, had it painted on there customely like that, or if you do get them yellow, have mach 1 wrote on there in black

Naw, I don't like writing things on the car that weren't there originally. But yeah, I went to a shop today because I'm looking for a place that could paint my brothers car and asked them what they'd charge to paint my covers and they quoted me $700.. I chuckled. Then I asked what they'd charge to paint my brothers 1994 Chrysler Lebaron with 150k miles that we just bought around $1000 and they quoted us at $3500. It's outrageous! I asked why they were asking so much and they said "because we do it right". Haha...she was a total beeotch.

I'm thinking that I could get the current covers painted for like $100 if that if I were to do it myself. Probably a lot cheaper, but my parents won't let me do anything on the car by myself engine wise until I graduate from Wyotech...pshh

I want to have them powdercoated. I don't know anyone that can powdercoat them cheap though. I want to spend around $300-$400 on this TOTAL.
FRPP has a pair of blue 32v covers for $349, but I doubt I'm going to find anyone that would be willing to powdercoat it for $50.

Those should cost well under $200 total to powder coat those covers yellow.

Unless it's like $50 to powdercoat them, it's more than likely going to go over budget. I can't find the covers much cheaper than the FRPP price, too. Jegs is offering them at $229 each, so this might have to wait.
