Default Question about in-car touch screens...

So I've been looking around, but can't seem to find any in-dash touch screens that could fit in the center console of my '04 Mach. Help? I'm not entirely sure what I should look for, or even if that is possible with the 6 cd changer system. Regardless it probably won't happen as I'm short on money, but still...it'd be nice to know what to look for should I ever find some money. What I really want is a simple way to plug my iPod into my car so I don't ever have to use one of those crap fm transmitters again. I just figured that I'd see what to look for for in-dash touch screens just for the heck of it while I was here...

Seen many ppl go with this one and all love it:

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entert...e_Video/DDX512

I'll probably be getting this for Christmas. Has cd/dvd/nav and plays ipods (which is what I really like). I need to get something new soon because my cd6 player keeps jamming and locking up for whatever reason and I'm tired of having to take it apart to realign the discs, has happened 6 times so far. Hope that helps.

But it's compatible with a in-dash 6cd changer? And are they difficult to install? And they look factory? I don't want something either too flashy or not up to par with the rest of the interior.

I would just like to make sure it will look flush with the rest of my interior, doesn't look stupid and can actually work with the system I have before I seriously consider spending $400 on it.

Will they work with the in-dash 6cd changer? I really like that one posted above, but I'd have to relocate the changer.

Are you asking if you can use the touch screen and still have the 6 cd changer available? Maybe Im just reading it wrong. If so, I highly doubt it. You'd be able to plug up your ipod or any usb drive so really its unnecessary to have the cd6 changer.

Not totally sure if you can sync the two. Im sure there is a touch screen that syncs with a multi disk changer but don't know if there is one for the Mach cd6.

the six disk changer you are refering to is acutually inside of the stereo itself. there is no seperate unit.

Beat me to it. Its part of the head unit so if you replace it you will not have a 6 disc anymore. Hence why you put CD's into the head unit not into a separate unit.

bummer, I liked that feature because I don't always have my iPod with me. Are there any touch screens that have a 6cd changer in them?

I think I know what you're talking about. My only problem with that is that you're only paying for the cable to plug into your iPod. I think that if I'm going to spend $100+ I'm going to buy something that is going to update the center console.

since you have the 04 i would get the double din touch screen not a flip out, the double din looks a lot nicer you dont have to have a dash kit, but yea your changer is built into the cd player that you would be replacing, no way around that but you dont need the changer if you got ipod or mp3 just get an aux cable 10 bucks unless you want it to charge ur ipod and use the actual radio to control ur playlist then you gota get an i-cable

Okay, about the double din plastic console cover...Do I need a new one for the DDX512 or DNX5120? I mean I've already got the double din cutout for the 6cd system, or do I need a custom/wider one made for it to fit?

And did any of the 99-04 mustangs have a factory touchscreen installed? If so, what model are they?

no touchscreen in any mustangs till what 06 or 07 model years?

I too have been thinking about replacing mine as its getting weird with CD's and what not. My problem is I have the MACH1000 and I dont want to loose any control of that etc.. And I have little knowledge on stereos as I am all about speed.

you can still keep your mach 1000 subs pounding with an aftermarket radio or screen, you just have to make sure to get the right wiring harness, there are like 3 or 4 different harnesses for our stangs b/c of the different factory systems they have but there is a harness made for a mach 1000 i have installed one before, obviously there are a ton of different brands of harnesses but i believe if you get the brand positive connections the model number you would need is a HRN-63

Sweet. Does anyone know where I can get the DDX512 or DNX5120 relatively cheap? The local radio guy said he could have it ordered (and installed against my will) for $680 or $790 depending on which one I would go with.

Not sure if this is the cheapest, but sure is the cheapest that i have seen (haven't looked that far into it). What do you mean by against your will with the install?

Anyway: http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-DDX512.../dp/B0015JMJD6

Hey said that he can't sell minus the install fee because that's what he's "banking on". This came from a guy who was obviously cracked out and had his life together in his yellow ice-cream truck.

My mom is convinced that he's the guy who she'd want to do it if I were to buy it because "he's specially trained for that sort of stuff"....*sigh*

I'd rather drop my car from an airplane than to let that get close to my car, yet alone play with the electrical.
