05-09 MGT headlight covers
Alright, I have been looking for GTS' website, but cannot find it. It's like they leave the advertising to the retail stores...Well, none of them say how they are mounted, other than "No drilling required". Does anyone know how they are held in place? I am entertaining the idea of getting them and the fog light covers, but only if I can remove them easily to drive at night.
I have thought about just cutting some window tint to fit, but I am concerned about them being left on too long, and possibly messing up the plastic lens.
Thanks for any help or suggestions

KrazyPony- I don't know. I thought of that too, but still cannot find any info on how they install. I will keep looking, or try to think of something that would work temporarily. My only problem is that I can't see at night very good, and don't want to add to the problem by covering them up, which is why I'd want to be able to remove them.
Thanks for the response.

I purchased the GTS headlight, fogs, and tail light covers for my '05. The fog covers are just a plain circle, and they pop directly into the grooves between the fog light and the plastic part around it. They were a good fit, but they are a little difficult to remove, because you have to stick something between the cover and the plastic to pry it out.
The headlight covers are the shape of the clear headlight lens and have 'lips' around the edge. The lips fit underneath the headlight lens, and there is a tab and lip on top that fit over the top of the lens. When you close the hood after installing the covers, the hood is supposed to hold them in place.
I returned the headlight covers because even after using velcro, the covers would pop off. They did not fit properly and I couldn't get them to even if my life depended on it.
If you really want to tint your lights, get window tint. You cannot remove it whenever you want, but this is the only alternative if you don't want to use the covers. If you are concerned with visibility, get brighter headlight and fog bulbs. I ended up changing my mind and leaving my fogs, headlights, and tails untinted. Instead, I tinted the 3rd brake light, turn signals, and side reflectors with 2.5% black. I've had the tint on for 3 months and have not had any problems. If you want to go the easy way, you can go to Autobadges.com and buy their precut tint.

KrazyPony- Thanks for the comment. You have a very sweet ride. I love all Mustangs, but that bodystyle is awesome. It's got a "squattier" and wide looking stance.
Black Sunshine- Thanks for the info- thats exactly what I was looking for. Do you still have the fog covers? If so, and if you'd be interested in parting with them, let me know. As for the headlight covers, that's what I was afraid of. I mean, having one of them blow off would suck, but having one (or both) scratch the paint would suck alot more. So, as for window tint, I am starting to lean that way.
BTW, it looks like you've done quite a bit to your '05. I'd like to see a few pics of it!
Thanks again,
Greg

sfcwoodret- What kind do you have? GTS, or what?
I had to go to the parts store yesterday, and was looking at window tint. I found some "static cling" type stuff that you still wet down and squeegee out, but the tint has no adhesive. I picked up a roll, and headed home. I made a template for the headlights and fog lights, then ended up making templates for the turn signals and rear side marker lights too. I cut a couple out, and tried to apply them.
It turned out awesome. The film is pretty thick, and is actually pliable enough to cover the slightly convex fog lights. I thought id have to cut a slit from the center to the outside edge, but it stretches just enough to adhere to the whole lens.
The only thing I am worried about is them messing the plastic lenses up. Also, the tint is pretty light, so Im hoping it wont make the lights too dim to see at night. We'll have to see about that, but anyway, heres a couple pics. In the side view pic, the lights were not on...it is the flash lighting the lens up.
Thanks,
Greg

Flynnster- I got it at Advance Auto Parts. I did a search and was going to include a link to the particular stuff, but couldn't find it- go figure. Anyway, the brand name is Gila. It says "Gila static-cling dark smoke", and is 35% VLT, or in other words, blocks 65% of light. It measures 24" wide, and the roll is 6.5' long. It was $10.88, and theres enough there to do 4 sets of headlights, front turn signals, fog lights, and rear side marker lights...so in other words, it costs just over $2.50 for each set.
Again, the film is pretty thick- almost a fruit roll-up consistancy. Thats the best way to describe it. LOL I wet the back-side with wind-X before smoothing it out lightly with a paper towel. It will move on ya very easily for awhile, but after getting the worst of the air bubbles out, I let it set for about 15-20 minutes, then removed the rest of the air. It would still move around if you wanted it to, but it's adhered enough to at least work with by then.
Hope this helps. Also, I appreciate the comment!
