Default Simco gauge cluster install help

Install was really simple but for some reason I can't get the lighting in the gauge cluster working. I made sure the brass edges were gapped so they would be touching the circuit board like they should and everything seems fine. I don't know what the deal is. I've read through the instructions more than once to make sure I didn't miss anything and checked out the additional instructions/troubleshooting document on simco's site and I'm not getting anywere.

Anyone else have this problem or any tips

-Thanks!

did you take out the bulbs the instructions said to remove? I remember that part from my install, dunno if its related to your issue, but it was something i forgot to do initially.

Yeah the instructions said to remove the second lamp from the left with the new connector for the power. My instructions match those off of the simco site. I don't know, I'm at a loss. I'm going to take it apart one more time to triple check that the connector is installed correctly them I'm going to call simco.

Just got done double checking everything, again. Back light still doesn't work. Another thing that I can't figure out is how to install the headlight switch correctly. When I push it back on it doesn't snap back into place. If I pull hard enough it will come off without the need of the screwdriver.

Well just got off the phone with simco. Their customer service was great. I am shipping my cluster back to them and once they receive it they will ship out a new cluster. Kind of sucks but hopefully the next one will work!

Well I just got my cluster back today. It's the same cluster because they put a sticker on it saying "reworked 9/8/08". No big deal as long as it's fixed.

So I got everything installed and NO back light.

I called my buddy up and I think we are going to try to install it in his 02 GT tomorrow night. If it still doesn't work I guess I'll call simco again friday morning.

Finally got them working. A stupid resolution....the simco instructions tell you to remove the bulb second from the left on the circuit board. Then replace that bulb with the connector used for power (the back light) from the simco cluster. So when I did this I left all other bulbs in tact. I noticed that the images on the simco instructions all of the bulbs were removed. Then I found some other instructions on corral http://www.corral.net/Tech/Electroni...ges/index_html that said to put the connector for power in ANY of the empty bulb spots. That was the one thing I did not try was a different bulb location for the power source. Damn thing worked when I used the center bulb location for the power. What a pita! At least it's fixed and they look sweet!

This might be worthy of moving to the Reference section for others to refer too...
