Permenant Solution

I took my wing off today and MAN i really like it! I got the push pins and touch up paint ..and it looks good, but i want it to be really smooth. for the ones that have doen it what where your methods? what was the cheapest/easiest way ?Thanks

swervo 05-31-2005 07:48 PM

find a v6ers trunk lid with out the wing that matches your color. Otherwise your gonna have to fill them in and have it repainted.

swervo 05-31-2005 07:49 PM

Oh yeah, how did the push pins work for you? I still have to get off my lazy butt and head to lowes to get them. Will do it in the next few weeks.

ThePunisher 05-31-2005 07:51 PM

Easiest way would be V6 trunklid. If not, youll have to weld patches in and all the finishing work.

Badfish 05-31-2005 08:17 PM

pushpins work great fit PERFECT!

is there any way i can just...bondo the holes and touch up paint? I want to try to keep it cheap...or i might as well buy teh 03 cobra trunk llid

dom 06-01-2005 12:10 PM

doesnt the 03 cobra one have holes? also what about the remote trunk opener switch?

Badfish 06-01-2005 05:38 PM

I meant the one with the lip spoiler...

Well i put my wing back on untill i find a cheap, permanentt soultion...cus i LOVE the wingless look...but on a yellow car those little black pushpins stick out like a sore thumb..i hope i figure something out.. :help:

Like to see how you can weld fiberglass.. :merror: bondo also will only work for a short time before it will crack out due to expansion variations between the fiberglass and the plastic filler. The only right way to do it would be to rematt and resin the entire top decklid surface, much cheaper to just find a v6 or bullitt decklid, I searched until i found one in my color for $175..

Badfish 06-03-2005 03:03 PM

are u sure its not metal?? cus i could swear...

The outer skin of the trunklid is sheetmetal. The supporting structure underneath is fiberglass.

I just looked at My 04 trunk likd and it is not metal. It is definetly plastic. The best permanent solution is to find a V-6 guy that will trade your trunk for his. I have yet to see those holes patches sucessfully so you cant see them.

dom 06-07-2005 10:41 AM

i traded my gt back bumper to a girl near me for her v6 bumper, same year same color. i was plannig on trading trunk lids too until the biitch got a saleen wing and drilled into it :(

Badfish 06-07-2005 10:32 PM

i never knew...whats the diff between gt and v6 bumper???

swervo 06-07-2005 10:34 PM

GT bumpers have a little cut out for the tail pipes, while the V6's dont. So if you have turn downs or side exhaust, you wont have a hole in the bumper (not really a hole but you know what I mean). So you put on the V6's and makes it look cleaner.

just curious, all this talk about the V6 trunk...

I have a GT without a spoiler.... it was a 40th ann package tho, but there are no holes and it looks sharp. Were those the only spoiler-less GT's?

Dude, ColoradoStang, check online,

http://www.coloradomustang.com/fordrace/fordrace.html

This place in denver claims to have the worlds largest mustang salvage yard

Being colorado with this crap snow and all, im sure there are some newer V6's that might have been totalled with a relativly untouched backside, might be able to find a trunk lid there without the holes, might even find the right color and in real good shape.

good place to check anyways

The Bullitt edition cars also came without a spoiler.
