wash with dawn, caly bar, then 3 coats of wax. the clay bar will pull out all the dirt stuck in the paint. its simple to do. just give yourself plenty of time.

The clay bar removes the contaminants in the surface of your paint. before you clay bar rub your hand across your hood or roof and feel how rough it feels to the touch. Then after you clay bar it rub it again and it will feel very smooth with no rough spots. In order to remove the swirls you will need a compound/polishing agent of some sort start with the least agressive first then work up to a more agressive agent as needed. Waxes will do nothing for removing swirls and scratches. Wax will be you LSP (last step product) that will add to the shine and add protection.

So two questions:
Which clay bar is the best for the money?
and
Which polish or whatever it is is the best for taking out swirls and scuffs etc?

I just use the mothers clay bar since I can get it local and only costs about $14 which includes the lube as well. If you want to get something local them the meguiars line of products are great to use. You would likely need to use their "professional line" which comes in the tan bottles. #9 is their swirl remover but should be used with a PC (porter cable polisher model #7424). Here is the #9 so you can see the bottle.
